Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

The Port Orleans French Quarter hotel has decent rooms, but the appointments and furnishings were a little on the cheap side. Nevertheless, when you're at Disney World, you don't spend much time in the hotel, so a clean, comfortable place to stay should be all you need. Check-in was very slow, but the public areas at this hotel are spectacular -- I loved all the gardens, the river, the pools, etc. The restaurants were nice -- definitely have a beignet for breakfast!

My first impressions of the hotel were a bit cheap but after a few days I was proven wrong.

The food was delicious and there was a wide range of it available. We went at Christmas and while we were having breakfast, a group of singers came around the tables singing traditional festive songs but in a New Orleans style.

Our maid came every day and her service was to perfection. She made animals with the towels and tied ribbon round them. She also made displays on the beds with the teddies we had bought while at the Disney Parks. At the end of the holiday she evn let us keep a dog made out of towel and elastic bands.

One morning by the restaurant there was a queue and when we looked we saw Mickey and Minnie Mouse having pictures taken of them and signing autographs. We joined the queue and although the wait was long we were given free candy-canes to eat while we were waiting.

On Christmas Day there were free drinks and cookies handed out in the lobby.

Only fault was that the check-in was quite slow.

Magical Experience!

Where do I begin...

1) Crib was requested upon booking online AND a follow-up phone call to the resort a few days prior to arrival date to make sure we get a crib. We were assured a crib would be in our room upon check-in....of course no crib. We called numerous times to the front desk and were told the same thing over and over that one is on it's way. We didn't get our crib until past 1:30 in the morning. And when we finally got a crib, it was so filthy that we decided not to put our baby in it.

2) We traveled from Calif. with two kids (one baby) and was up at 3 a.m. to make our 7 am flight...to make a long story short it was a long day. We didn't get in the resort until about 8pm. We were told our luggage would be in our room 2-3 hours after arrival time. Midnight rolled in and still no luggage. Well, to make things worse, front desk does not answer the phone past midnight, unless someone happens to walk on by or be there at the moment. Not to exaggerate, we did NOT get our luggage until 2:20 AM. And to make it even more interesting...they didn't get ALL our luggage at the airport. We were missing one.

3) HAIR on the "clean towels" and they were moist and musty

4) Blood spot on the comforter

5) Latch on the refrigerator door was broken so when I opened it to put our baby food in, the door fell on my foot. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen!

6) Sure your luggage is dropped off for you when you arrive, but THE RESORT DOES NOT HELP YOU BRING YOUR LUGGAGE OUT WHEN YOU CHECK OUT. They don't even have a cart to make life easier for their guest. Our room was the furthest away from the front desk (bldg 7) and it was a real struggle for my husband and I to pull all of our luggage and carry-ons plus a stroller to the front desk!

The first 24hours of our vacation was so stressful that I wished we were back home. I will never stay at this resort EVER even if it was for free. THE SERVICE AND ROOM QUALITY OF THIS RESORT IS EQUIVALENT TO A MOTEL 6!

I just loved it the rooms were clean and pleasantly decorated and the setting was lovely.

Don't stay at the Port Orleans FQ. The towels were dirty. One towel had makeup and pencil shavings from a womans eyeliner and another towel had some faint skidmarks. I will never ever stay at that place again.
