We just returned from a family vacation to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Although we had an excellent stay at the Polynesian Resort, this review is more geared toward a Disney experience that exemplifies why we will continue to return year after year. My brother, sister in law, mother and two nephews, ages 1 and 4 went to Animal Kingdom park on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Unfortunately, after lunch, my sleep deprived brother managed to throw away his wallet with the pizza remnants. More unfortunately, we didn't realize it until 2 hours later. Upon our return to the restaurant, our fears were confirmed that the trash from lunch was long since removed, not only from the pizza restaurant, but from Disney property, on its way to be compacted. My brother explained that along with cash and credit cards, his only form of picture i.d. was in the wallet, which would be problematic for his return flight home. The manager of the restaurant assurred us that she would search and contact other Disney personel, in hopes of finding the wallet. Nevertheless, we assumed it was gone for good and tried to salvage the rest of the day after the requisite calls to banks, etc. You can imagine our shock later that evening when we received a call from that same manager at the pizza restaurant advising that after searching through 200 bags of trash, my brother's wallet was retrieved! She even offered to bring it to him at the Magic Kingdom! Albeit with a lingering "aroma", my brother's wallet was returned in tact, with all of his cash and cards in place!
Disney is always a pleasure and I've had many good experiences with hotel and park staff. However, such a thoughful act of pure, unadulterated, compassion, amazed us all to the point that we vowed to re-recommend Disney to everyone we know! Obviously, I highly recommend a trip to Walt Disney world. You won't be disappointed!
