I don't know why this hotel got poor reviews from most of the reviewers. My husband and I visited the Desoto in late January, and although the weather was a little cool, the service was great. The room was clean, the ocean view was spectacular, the staff friendly and the room and furnishings left nothing to be desired. We would difinately return

I thought the rates were high when I checked in and man they went up when I checked out. Managemnt was not "friendly" at all. I am a local and will never stay here again and further, I will advise anyone that will listen about our negative experience dealing with this hotel.
Great place to stay. comfortable beds. clean and updated. great shower. lots of hot water. We did not have a beach front room. Nice pool area and some chairs on beach. Good breakfst bar. I would stay again. Only thing is it is far from main part of...

If you go, get the rate confirmed in writing. The non-smoking room smelled of heavy smoke and mold. No hot water, just luke warm. No breakfast left at 8:45 AM. No blanket, only 2 tiny towels; thermostat on heater did not work. Very noisy due to poor construction. Tiny pool. Desk personnel could not move us to clean room. Owner/manager unavailable until afternoon and unwilling to accomodate asmatic child's need for clean room. Not appropriate for children due to heavy smoke odor, mold, loud drunks partying on balconies, noise, no hot water. Inadequate parking. I am a travel professional. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel.
The staff and facilities were great. We stayed a week and would have loved to have stayed longer. Unfortunately, we had to go back to the real world of work. We will be
making plans in the next couple of months to return next summer.

Okay
The staff was ok, but the view was of the parking lot - and all the other guests stared right into our room - we had a small view of the ocean - and we paid top dollar for the stay! Parking is very limited - and no we won't be going...

The first time we stayed we didn't know what to expect from the hotel and made reservations in the only room available. The stay was nice, the location good. It is on the beach and the pool was clean and uncrowded. The 2nd time we stayed we...
