DeSoto Motel Motel - Page 1

Well, I know it's a bit late for my review, but while reading my trip logbook I came across the date for my stay in this motel. I wondered if it still existed, and searched for it on the internet and found this site.

My recollection is that in 1998 this was not a bad motel. It was convenient when we needed a motel, and was also close to several restaurants. At that time, it was clean and comfortable (Room 21). The most interesting thing I remember is watching the couple next door move their luggage into the room. Sometime in the middle of the night, her moans of extacy (the real thing, not the drug) woke us up. My girlfriend's comment was "Good grief!". The entertainment factor alone prompts me to boost the rating a notch. ;^)

The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly when it came to our last minute, late night reservation. The mattress was poor and the room had a funny smell. Make sure to bring your own toiletry items as they give you very little. But for the price, it was worth it and it was worth not having to make the three hour drive at half past ten o'clock at night.

We stayed for 2 days in Oct./07 only because nothing else was available, but I would have slept in my car if I had checked the room before paying.

We have stayed here before and the room was much better. This time we got a double bed (booked a queen), rug was dirty, shower was dirty, lampshades ripped, light fixtures missing, sheets paper thin, room musty smelling and noisy from traffic going by, felt like trucks going thru the room, didn't use air conditioner because knobs missing and even if there was any knobs we were afraid we would get sick from what ever was inside the a.c., television was small and old, table broken (top fell right off when touched) and no refunds posted on lobby door. I wonder why!

This place is a dump and should be shut down.

What a friggin' disaster!!!! I have never seen such a "HOLE"...dirty carpet, dirty rooms, filthy bedspreads, smelled like black mold! I've stayed in some real crappy places, but never ever have seen such a mess!!

We went for a Parents Weekend visit at St. Bonaventure and hoped to save a little by staying at this place...TAKE MY ADVICE: SPEND THE MONEY AND STAY AT A DECENT PLACE....

I am not kidding, I truly thought I would see mice and bedbugs during my visit.

The other local hotels wouldn't even suggest this hotel, though it was the only one in Olean that still had vacancy.
