The staff were friendly, and the hotel was not a 'scary one' (my wife's definition of some of the lower end competition). Breakfast was included, but very limited and we did not eat there. The location is a coupe of miles from the downtown area, and the parking was included. The rooftop pool was filled with concrete, and there was an interesting location of all the gym equipment along the top floor corridor. Make sure you have all your extras with you as an additional coffee maker was $25, towels not much less (we weren't sure whether this was an outright purchase or not and certainly did not intend to find out!). Recommended only if you are prepared to put up with the worn look and feel, and given that the vast majority of non-premium hotel rooms in Santa Monica are tired, some grungy and mostly expensive.
