36 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

This place is not for everyone, but for those who are looking simply for a place to sleep, the price cannot be beat.

The rooms are clean and spacious if slightly worn and in need of redecorating.

The area is all industrial zone, so there are occasional odd industrial sounds and trains. The well known rough areas of Richmond are not nearby. The walls are thin too.

But I have never found anywhere in the entire Bay Area even remotely this cheap. It suits my needs fine. And the people are nice, if slightly uninformed. There are occasionally some dubious looking characters in the parking lot, but I never feel unsafe. Just keep awareness and leave nothing valuable in the car. I park out side my room (if you have to, ask for a parking lot view if car is a concern for you) then I can make visual checks on it.

I have probably made it sound scarier than it is. I have stayed here twice and have had very pleasant visits both times with no complaints nor any problems.

It’s minutes from San Rafael over the bridge to Marin. Very close to Oakland and Berkley and the Carquinez straights areas. It’s equidistant from San Francisco via either Bay or Golden Gate bridge more or less. Choose based on traffic. Napa and Sonoma are easily reached too.

The pool is closed and has few amenities, but again, I can travel anywhere in this huge area loaded with amenities. I do not need it in the hotel.

I recommend this for single male travelers or couples. It’s probably a little boring and edgy for families with kids.

Some rooms have free wireless access. Others cannot even get cell phone reception.

This will be my new place in this overpriced market.

I am very likely to return to the Days Inn Point Richmond.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
