39 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I booked this hotel through the toll free number. I usually stay at their hotels (Days Inn, Super Eight etc.) because they are all earning me points for free stays. Well... This hotel popped up with the reservationist at $92.00 per night. It was close to downtown and priced great! I am travelling with my wife and six kids. We have two rooms. The hotel is disgusting. The neighborhood is very scary! We checked in and chose to stay because otherwise I would have lost the $184 due to the no refunds policy. We never left our room. Thank god we snacked before we arrived. The rooms are very old. Olive green bathrooms! The dresser drawer had no bottom. There are no alarm clocks, the TV is old and reception very poor. The ceiling is cakes with dirt from the a/c. I am afraid for our van, alone in the parking lot! Supposedly there is a pool, but we wouldn't dare leave our room to search for it. The hotel is right on Route !- Roosevelt Road, so the street noise, including the police and ambulance sirens is very loud! The bullet proof glass bit the others posted about is absolutely true. How anyone could rate this hotel as a 7 is beyond me. They have very low standards. Stay clear. Your safety is not worth the price.

This hotel is in a bad area. The check-in clerks were behind bullet-proof glass and were unfriendly, spoke hard to understand English. The carpet was dirty; the lobby was filthy with people lying around on the furniture like they were living there.

There was no hair dryer in the room & I had to go to the lobby to pick one up. I will never stay here again.

37 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I stayed at this location for three nights with my son and husband. I was told I was going to get a "very nice room". The room was the shabbiest I have seen in my travels over the last 6 years. I noted on the website that it was renovated in 2004 but I can't figure out where. I guess maybe if we had reserved a Jacuzzi room then maybe we would have gotten a renovated room, but ours didn't appear to have been touched since maybe the 1970's.

There was a hole in the wall which had a constant flow of cold air coming in from outside and the outlet would sink into the wall when you tried to plug something in. There was one trash can for the entire room and it wasn't even in the bathroom. I agree with a previous poster, the room we had stank, although it was a smoking room. I figured it might have a bit of a lingering smoky smell but this room smelled like stale smoke and cat pee. It smelled so bad we had to go to the store around the corner and buy air freshener.

The bureau drawers were all broken and couldn't be used. Who knows what the gunk was that was all caked up around the metal base of a pen holder that was on the desk. I had to hide it under the overturned ashtray it was so gross.

The staff was very nice to us and helpful with directions but the condition of our room and the other "amenities" the hotel offered were enough for us to swear we will never stay there again. We might even shy away from Days Inn completely if this is any indication of their standards.

We stayed in this Days Inn in April 2007. The rates in the city were very expensive and this seemed to be a compromise in price and convenience.

One might get the wrong idea when first checking in looking at the general conditions of the neighborhood and hotel lobby. As I approached the front desk I first noticed the bullet proof glass that enclosed the hotel personnel from the general public. Even though the rates were low and they did provide free parking I wondered if I made ad error in choosing safety over cost?

After overnight stay I must stay my choice proved a pleasant one. You would never mistake this hotel for the Taj Mahal but it was safe, clean and close to Philadelphia .Many of the higher price hotels in and around the center of the city do not provide parking or add between $10 to $15 per day to park and prices start around $135 and up.

The room was a little small but clean but if you stay there bring your own alarm clock since there were none in my room. Continental breakfast which started at 6am to 9 am was sufficient and next door was a Chinese restaurant and also an Italian restaurant. Near by was a shopping center with a Country Buffet where we ate twice. Directions available from the front desk were a great help in navigating the complex highway approach to the city.

One last thing that has nothing to do with the hotel, but places of interest in the city: If you plan to visit the Liberty Bell, do not carry a pocket knife or any other device that might be considered a weapon. They will not permit you inside the building. If you plan to visit the US Mint which just recently opened they do not permit cameras for some unknown reason and also most everyone carries a camera when on vacation. Both buildings make you clear a magnetometer when entering.
