We stayed here because it was the Holiday Inn and they are supposed to have a good reputation and they were closest to Universal Studios. We were not impressed with the room, but it was a typical hotel unit and was somewhat spacious. But, as we started to put the kids to bed and pulled back the sheets, there were a huge pair of mens underwear in between the sheets! Not cool. Yes, management upgraded us to a one bedroom suite, but there we found roaches. And, to top it off on the last night as we were packing up to go. We found, under the bedskirt, a pair of blue men's socks... uh, not ours! This is ridiculous. Don't stay here. I've never found a more filthy place to stay and will never stay in another Holiday Inn again. And, don't bother trying to contact corporate... they don't bother to reply. So much for public relations.

Our experience at Days Inn Orlando Universal Maingate was good in most ways. The water in the room did have a little metallic sulfur flavor. Otherwise everything was fine until checkout. Days Inn then added some additional unadvertised charges totaling $2.50 per day for items like:
- use of the safe which we did not use
- use of the pool
- maid service
I've never before heard of adding made up charges to a bill at checkout time. It reminded me of the TV advertisement where a small girl tries to ride a bicycle outside of a small box. Days Inn finished an otherwise acceptable experience on a terribly sour note.

This hotel is dirty and in need of renovation. The rooms were outdated, smoke detector and toilet needed repair. They also need new mattresses and towels. Hopefully you don't end up with a room at the back of the hotel. It's scary back there and...

We wanted a place near Universal and didn't want to pay very much. We were pleasantly surprised to find a comfortable room. The room had many updates given the age of the building and I didn?t have to pay extra for the internet. The center court...
