The only thing nice about this hotel is the location, and the size of some of the balconies. The staff was incompetent, unhelpful and most of them unfriendly. We arrived at the hotel on Monday. Tuesday morning we were told we had to move, because th

Happy Vacationing! Be careful at this hotel! You have to be informed and know what to ask for! and you may want to research best rates, and call several times until you get one of the parttime younger staff who are apt to be honest and friendlier to make a reservation!
Why all this effort?
As long time vacationers in OC who have stayed at a broad variety of OC hotels, there are a couple great perks at this hotel....We go the the two big annual car shows they have at OC every year. We tow a huge enclosed trailer with a show car and a large truck. This particular Days Inn has its own viewable huge parking lot right across from the hotel itself. So there is ample safe parking for a large truck/trailer. That is a rare commodity during these car shows with 3,000+ car entries.
There are also just a FEW fairly distinctive ample oceanfront studio suites. You must clarify and request these few rooms and verbally confirm several times to ensure you get one of these studios. Gorgeous stunning view from an Oceanfront room that has sliding glass doors from end to end so the view is amazing! Right on the boardwalk..couldnt be a better location is you want to be in the thick of things right on the boardwalk.
The room itself is quite large and rather nice for a 2-star Days Inn. Hardwood floors as you open into a full size kitchen/dining room Full size frig, sink, microwave, coffemaker just no oven. Dining table is a standard round dark wood table that could comfortably seat 6 and roomy enough for 8.
Extends into a a large sitting area, with a TV, sleeper sofabed divided partially by a large entertainment center into the large bedroom with two doublebeds.
The room isnt walled but with the lengthy entertainment center dividing the room its gives a sense of privacy to guest in the beds, and sleeper sofa.
The bathroom is contemporary large full bath. One nice convenient feature in the hallway outside the bathroom is a second sink with marble top, storage cabinets and large mirror.
Ideal if you have several guests needing mirror time!
We usually make our reservations way in advance, usually we book our rooms while we are vacationing there for the next year!
If you are booking a room by phone, it is worth inquiring several times until you get a friendly staff member! I recommend calling the hotel directly and mention you have previously been a guest and got *$$* a certain rate. All the websites list the best seasonal rate available.
Longtime management is definetely the worst! Been there as long as I know of and always rude and impatient and quotes high rates. They have been known to take a hurried reservation with errors that they wont attempt to correct or give a smaller size dumpy room at full studio rates!
One year we had reserved three rooms almost a year in advance and the rates and rooms were not at all what we reserved!! It was a huge struggle to finally work everything out.
Two years ago making a phone reservation I was quoted three different things in a matter of two days.
I was told by one rude staff there were no rooms available...
later told only streetside smaller rooms were available for insanely high rate...
Finally, next day was able to confirm a reservation for one of "special studios" for an amazing rate!!
So if you want a great location, killer view, contemporary ample room...and you...
do your homework in advance of best seasonal rates available...
Inquiring until you can confirm exactly what you want..
verbally have detailed room description confirmed...
request several extra room keys when checking in (to avoid having to request more key cards that easily get demagnatized)
once you check in avoid staff and front desk and just enjoy your gorgeous oceanfront view!
P.S....the maids are usually very helpful and efficient when we tip them just an extra 5-10 dollars just once on the first day. An extra tip we do, but not necessary.
There is a modest restaurant on the premises open in season... affordable and convenient...fairly decent diner dishes...staff there are usually pleasant.

My Mom and I went for our annual getaway and decided to stay at this hotel. Upon entering our room, we found pizza sauce smeared on the wall by the TV, chewing gum stuck to the wall above one of the beds (3 separate pieces!), and a dirty sock laying ...

First of all we were to get a street side room--well if we looked out our side window over the bushes we could see the street. There was no place for us to sit outside our room to enjoy the fresh air. The person across from us was a smoker and...

This was one of the worst hotels that I have ever vacationed at. My boyfriend and I checked in to a room that was not what was expected (per the pictures and brochures). The pictures show are mostly of the newly remodled rooms. Apparently we got on of the rooms that hasn't been worked on in years. The room smelled very very musty. We had to clean the air conditioner filter ourselves and went to the store just to buy disinfectant wipesjust to get some of the smell out of the room. The front door did not open unless you slammed all of your body weight against it, and that's only if our key card worked. The closet door and bathroom door did not close, no fan in the bathroom, carpet and curtains were very dirty. The only things that seemed to work properly in the room were the t.v. and the safe. The front desk was very rude and unhelpful, especially when one of our key cards had to be reset. Most of the cleaning staff was very rude and loud in the mornings way before checkout/cleaning time. The only upside to this whole trip was the fact that we were right on the beach. When we left this hotel we decided we would never stay there again...but to top it all off, I rec'd my credit card statement and not only did they charge me for our full week, they charged me for it 2 more times!!!! When I called the manager to question this and have this corrected he told me that it could not be refunded and that I would have to have MY credit card company contact him to have them "authorize" refunding the 2 extra charges, even though they charged me 2 times the day we checked out and a week later. After contacting my credit card company they informed me the only way for this to be refunded (other than filing a bunch of papers with my credit card holder) was to contact the manager of Days Inn again. This I did with little success, as each time I called Days Inn he was "in hiding" and had others give me messages. After much time and effort trying to get my money back, I have to go through the 8 week process of having my credit card company dispute these charges. Even though these were obvious errors on their part they claim they are not able to refund these monies and they need to go through my card company.
Bottom line, if you can get past all the rudeness and uncleanliness and decide to stay at Days Inn, please be sure you PAY WITH CASH!!!

This place refused to give what reservations quoted for package deal. We were to have oceanfront room & ended up with poolside w/no elevator to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs-Charged higher room price, refused to give allotted food vouchers & tram tickets promised with package-This place is literally a rip-off-The rooms and drawers smell of mold/mildew. We couldnt even use the drawers to put our clothes in they stunk so badly. Mold spores growing in bathroom window. No fan in bathroom. Mirrors stayed wet for hours after showers. The carpet needs replaced everywhere-Our key cards had to be replaced daily as our door was faulty which was a BIG inconvenience-The room stunk & now that we are home our clothes smell just like the room did-Take your money & run elsewhere~Its not worth ruining your vacation to deal with these jerks!!!!They make the offer sound good over the phone then when you get there, they say this isnt what you were offered & want to charge you more. Virtual tour makes the place look good-trust me, it looks nothing like this! The pools & rooms are tiny! Housekeeping staff was very friendly but they could not help us with our issues. Carpet is dirty, worn & stained. balconies are in severe need of repair. Walls & floors/ceilings very thin-you can hear everything below & above you-very noisy at all times-The poolside balcony doors are swelled from dampness & the only way to shut them is to bang them so that is what you hear all night long. Rooms are so small that beds are tight against the wall & every time you move at night you hit the jagged spackled wall & the plastic blinds that hang by the windows and makes such a racket it wakes everyone in the room. Blinds are broken & you cant put them up so you dont bump them while sleeping- We complained & they wouldnt do anything about any of it. Then they charge you for calling the front front desk to get your key card recoded. The worst hotel experience ever-save yourself a hassle and stay anywhere else-This was our first & LAST stay at this hole! The "so-called" role-playing mgr in reservations is very rude and should learn some manners. Never had to encounter such an incompetent group of folks & hope I never have to again~I know I wont at the Days Inn! We were woken at 3:45 for a false fire alarm for over an hour during a thunderstorm also on our 1st night there. STAY NEXT DOOR AT THE GRAND-IT IS BEAUTIFUL & CLEAN & THE ROOMS DO NOT SMELL!!!!
