39 year old with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

Before you book this hotel, please take a moment to read my story.

My daughter is a 19 year old college student attending school in Arizona, far from her home in N.C. She recently broke up with her boyfriend and needed to come home to visit me for some R&R and sympathy. Because I worried about her driving across country at her age, I went on Expedia and booked hotel rooms for the 2 nights she would need accommodations.

I chose the Days Inn in N. Little Rock, because I assumed Days Inn, while certainly a budget motel, was a name that could be trusted. The reservation I filled out online did not ask an age for the customer, nor did it specify any age limit. Last night, after 15 hours driving, my daughter pulled into the Days Inn N. Little Rock East at 2:30 a.m. to check into her room.

She was greeted by a scowling, rude woman at the desk who informed her that, although she had a reservation, secured by my credit card (and my daughter has a credit card of her own, too, that wasn't the issue), she would not be allowed to check in, because she is only 19. My daughter called me, quite upset, and I spoke to this horrible woman, only to be told the same thing. She was not budging. When I asked to speak to her superior, I was told he is in India. She put my daughter, who had a good reservation here, out on the street at 2:30 in the morning in a strange city where she knows no one, hundreds of miles from home, and without a moments concern for her welfare.

Luckily for my daughter, there was a Comfort Inn right next door, where she was met with kindness, sympathy, and of course, a room. Incidentally, my daughter says the Comfort Inn was much, much nicer than the Days Inn, and the cost of the room was the same. I will never, ever trust the Days Inn name again.
