I never feel compelled to make complaints, but this particular hotel was dreadful. Firstly, construction was occurring. While I certainly understand the need to work on buildings (after all, I am a facilities engineer myself), management shouldn't book the rooms that are under construction or they should inform the customers before they book that their rooms, or at least the hotel in general, are undergoing repairs. Either they can then decide not to book, or they can be offered a discount.
Secondly, the hotel was filthy. The room was not cleaned following the previous guests. They didn't even pick up a used newspaper, for heaven's sake. The room was not vacuumed, and there was a large clump of blonde hair on one of the bed sheets. The area here the complimentary breakfast is served had hairs in most of the food areas, the tables were given the quickest of wipes but never cleaned, and specific food items we noticed on the floor the first day of our stay were in the exact same locations the very next day.
After we complained about our first room, we were moved across the hall. This was moderately cleaner, but the shower curtain had mildew, and the tile was very dirty.
Thirdly, the facilities, which, as I noted, I am quite familiar with, were poor. The lighting is substandard with burnt out bulbs in our first room and in the hall, and plumbing fixtures that are simply horrible. They are sloppy and cannot be placed in the proper position for good water temperatures. Even the TV is bad. The channels I could get in the first room were not available in the second, and no-one in the office knew how to fix it.
Following all of my complaints, I was offered a whopping $10 off one night's stay. This was insulting, but to be nice, I agreed. They didn't even do that when I checked out the next morning. Management at this location is poor, the hotel is abysmal. My next trip, I stayed across the street at a Comfort Inn, and it was night and day. That was a far better location.
