Days Inn Hotel Boston

Very nice basic hotel with a few extra amenities like a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, fitness room, business center and free parking. Room service as well as same-day laundry and drycleaning are available. Wifi is free throughout the hotel. There is a skating rink next door, playset across the street on the Charles Riverfront, as well as biking and jogging paths. The hotel also houses a Chinese restaurant, Joyful Garden. Cambridge is about a mile's walk across the river (Harvard Square is the closest "T" stop to the hotel), or the 86 bus which goes direct to Cambridge can be picked up behind the hotel on Western Ave.

This is one of the least expensive places to stay in the Boston area, but buyer beware. For starters, my room key didn't work upon arrival, so I had to go back downstairs to have them redo the magnetic strip...then the next day the keys wouldn't work either and they had to redo them yet again. My room was on a floor where renovations were being done, so I was treated to the smell of fresh paint during my stay. On the second evening I had to call the front desk twice to complain about a group of teenagers who were running and screaming through the hallways. A cab ride to Harvard Square is about 8 bucks, but it seems the cabs take a different route back to the hotel so that average fare is over 11 dollars. In general, the hotel is a bit rundown; the bed not comfortable. The staff was polite and the free wifi signal was strong. I wasn't expecting luxury, but I did hope for a bit more than I got.

My stay 6/23/07 was a nightmare. Having booked a pre-paid reservation 9 days in advance online at the Days Inn at 1234 Soldiers Field Rd in Cambridge I checked in to find that there was no room reserved! Instead, I was booked at a nearby Days Inn, also on Soldiers Field Rd. (Being very familiar with Boston and Cambridge I had purposely booked 1234 Soldiers Field Rd because it is a nicer property directly across from the Charles River). The hotel that I was switched to is a beat-up, downtrodden property in a lousy location!

This was clearly a bait and switch proposition by Days Inn. My advice: stay away from these con artists!

The hotel had a good price. It was also located near Cambridge, which was the area I was staying in. The hotel was also easy to find.

The rooms were ok. One room had a problem with the bathroom and no staff member came up to fix it so we had to fix it ourselves. The staff did not seem very helpful or even willing to help us out. The room was as comfortable as expected. We liked how you could use the internet connection and play games on the TV but it cost way too much money to do it so we never used it.
