I've stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions (last time I was there, faulty wiring caused an entire wing to burn down; I should have taken that as an omen), so I knew not to expect too much, but it is cheap, conveniently located, and used to be reasonably clean. When my wife, son and I arrived, we were extremely disappointed at how dirty the room was: dirt and stains on the carpet, no facial tissue and actual grime in the tub and on the shower walls. Unfortunately, we had no time to ask for another room as we had a pressing engagement to get to, so we cleaned up as well as we could and left. We spent a grand total of about 20 minutes in the room. Upon our return later that evening (at about 11 p.m.) we discovered that the card key reader was dead and we were locked out of our room. The two employees on duty at the time tried to help, but were unable to get the door open. Eventually, they called someone named Neil (or Neal) Patel, who I believe is an assistant manager there and he finally got the door open; however, by that time, we’d been standing in cold, damp weather for over 45 minutes (during this period, my wife and I personally witnessed four (4) customers complaining to hotel staff about dirty rooms) and no longer had any interest in staying in this dump. When I told the clerk on duty that we wanted to get our things and go, and have our money refunded, I was told that only the manager (Tina Perkins) or Mr. Patel had that authority. As he was standing right there, I told Mr. Patel that we would be leaving and that we expected our money back. An enraged Mr. Patel rudely refused on the grounds that we hadn’t let anyone know about how dirty the room was upon our arrival. I pointed out that the filth of our room was not the only problem we encountered in our stay and reminded him of the 45-minute wait in the cold. He responded that HE had done US a favor and that we should just be thankful. No need to make a long story any longer, but the bottom line is that Neil (or Neal) Patel of the Days Inn located at 1551 S. University in Ft. Worth is an extremely rude, angry and unprofessional man who is an absolutely horrible representative of Days Inn. By the way, after Mr. Patel slouched away, the night clerk did refund our money, so FU Mr. Patel, but it still wasn’t worth it.
