25 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I thought it was in an "oK" location to the downtown area. But it was less than a block from the Department of social services and a block from a homeless shelter. (you might think.."so what", BUT) there were homeless people everywhere loitering and it kind of Creeped my family and friends out that were seeing charlotte for the first time. The homeless people were loitering around the hotel and in the hotel parking lot. Ihey were soliciting money from me and my younger brother. My brother did not feel safe leaving the hotel after dark. to just walk through the downtown area.

OH...now for the room. THe room smelt like smoke even though it was non smoking. It REALLY needed a fresh painting. There were stains on ceiling and walls. Ceiling still look fresh from a flood upstairs. Furniture and decorations in room looked 20-30yrs old. bathroom floor looked bad and door barely shut. My brother is the total opposite from being a germ freak, but he was even asking for lysol. Oh...yeah...the TV's color was yellow.

This hotel needs major renovations

Good things...pillows were soft, good air conditioning. (as a lay there praying the sheets are clean) and my parking space was close to my room.

I was shocked with the inside of this Days Inn. I have been a Days Inn customer for at least the last 15-20years.

The first room we had at this location was #141 it was okay, but still had some problems such as smell, curtain had holes in them so at night you could peek in, no instruction on using the message center, wake up calls, or just using the phone to make local or long distance calls.

Then we moved to room 165 where the wallpaper was falling down, no television listing numbers, used the restroom to discover the toilet did not work so they move us to 164 and that room had wallpaper falling, mold smell, mold on wall, pole light had no plug like someone cut it and wires were hanging out, no tub stopper, no coffee maker, no towels, no sink stopper, no cups. Also we notice maids did not change mattress covers, blanket or spread when prior guest checked out, I will not be using days in again if these problems occur again.

the money I paid I would appreciate a coupon for future stay at a Days Inn.

The Days Inn central in downtown charlotte was by far THE WORST hotel (or should i say motel) I have ever stayed in! First check in was terrible; had to wait over a half hour to check in because only one person was working the front desk. The whole exterior of the hotel was dingy, dirty, unkept and the pictures on line of the place are very deceiving. The outside hallways smelled like pee. The rooms were stinky, wall paper torn, carpets in room were stained, bedding (fitted sheets, sheets, blankets) were stained, saw a few roaches while in the room. No iron in the rooms-had to check out one of six irons from the front desk, which were always checked out. Had to walk around with wrinkled clothes for 5 days! No refrig or microwave in room. Pool out of service bc they could not call 911 from the pool area (what?). Were out of coffee for the rooms and sometimes depending on who you asked, would get an attitude when you asked for an additional towel! (only had a few per room, very protective of towels). This place was the worst almost like the kind of place where some folks check out the room for a few hours to take care of business you won't normally see in a better hotel. I would not recommend this hotel if the other hotels in town weren't booked bc of a convention in town i would have paid the late cancellation fee and stayed in another hotel. It was so dirty that I wonder if the health department would allow a place like that to continue to operate. The only things good-close to downtown and the staff in the office were nice.

I am not likely to return to the Days Inn Downtown Charlotte.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The carpet was nasty and I got a nonsmoking room and it smelled like smoke with burnt holes in the sheets. The tolet would not flush good. The wall outlet had a short in it. No good breakfast. No place for pets to run. Also the tv's were so old they had a green color to them. Walls need painting. Good location if you are staying downtown. Would not stay there again.
