34 year old man with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I'd booked a room here a couple months in advance of my stay, not knowing about the area. Had I known what I was in for, I'd have selected a different hotel, good chance still a Days Inn, however. While the front desk staff was courteous in every way, the location was a nightmare. If you're looking for peace & quiet, move on! Could hardly sleep a wink with all the partying on the street and loud car stereos right outside the room. Can't blame the hotel for this however. I can blame them for the musty smelling room, poorly functioning plumbing (a mere trickle at the sink, and the showerhead was broken and would not switch off of that machine gun like maximum massage setting), dirty carpet, uncomfortable bed, pillows that offered no support at all, an alarm clock that didn't work, and an air conditioner that sounded as if were akin to a WWII bomber. Parking is a nightmare as well, with tiny cramped spots that would barely fit a Chevy Aveo. I had to park across the street in the city garage....the desk clerk insisted that there were 5 open spots in the lot. Yes, there were but they all had cars over the line into them already! Being that I had brought a show car for an event over the weekend, I had no desire to park where it would more than surely receive damage. Whenever I travel, I do favor stays with Days Inns as they're typically clean and comfortable, and a good value. This downtown Asheville location, however, is the exception. It was by far the most unpleasant hotel stay I've ever had.

39 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Have stayed many times over the years & slowly watched it deteriorate. Location and affordable rates used to make up for lack of amenities - and cleanliness - but no more. Most recent visit included dead bugs in bed and dirty washcloths in shower. New "no visitation" rule is a ridiculous - local friends were not allowed to come to our room when they picked us up for dinner. This was the last time we stay here.

We were pestered by maids and made to feel like we needed to get out of the room early each morning. We used the do not disturb sign, so the maid called the room. A couple of times we had to ask for more towels and when they did clean the room it was not a very thorough job. Worst of all, they used some sort of spray that made the whole room and the bed sheets and the pillows smell disgusting.

I am not likely to return to the Days Inn Downtown Asheville.
I would not recommend it to friends.

42 year old man with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I had a friend stay in this hotel at my suggestion, because it was close to downtown.

I was busy due to the holidays, and had not managed to see my friend yet. It was about 1 am when I tried to go up and visit for a few minutes. I was asked for my ID, and then I was denied access because I am a local.

I was not there to rent a room, just to visit a person staying in the hotel. I was able to call my friend down, we then headed up, but again I was yelled at, and was told that I was not allowed to be let in or even on the property since I was a local.

Much to my amazement, I have given this hotel business in the past and even on this late December evening. It was insulting to be treated as if I had done something wrong because I was there to see a friend. I have always used Days Inns, but I now spread the word about this hotel that denies a paying guest the common right to have visitors. Prison has easier visitations.

This hotel is poor in all categories.

I am not likely to return to the Days Inn Downtown Asheville.
I would not recommend it to friends.

This hotel has one great thing going for it, the location. It is in downtown Asheville, within easy walking distance of restaurants, art galleries, shops, etc. They know they have this advantage, and therefore, don't try too hard as far as the upkeep is concerned. If you're looking for style and luxury in your accommodations, this is not the hotel for you.

I am very likely to return to the Days Inn Downtown Asheville.
I might recommend it to friends.
