I was apprehensive about staying at the Days Inn after reading all of the negative reviews, but it was the right price and everyone said it recently underwent a renovation.
We arrived at 4:00; check-in was supposed to be at 3. Our room was not ready and we had to wait in the lobby until around 4:30.
The room is fine for two people size-wise and I first thought "phew, it isn't *that* bad." Then I found lipstick on both sides of the pillow. Then I discovered lots of mold in the shower. All problems seemed to center around the cleaning service. The room also did not appear to be renovated - the bathtub/shower had broken pieces and looked quite old.
Free wireless is nice, though, so bring your laptop along. Internet is otherwise pay via television or their business center.
The location is great, though. The metro is about 2 blocks away (around a half hour from downtown Washington attractions, including the convention center) and there are lots of stores and restaurants within those two blocks - CVS, Giant, Burger King, a great Indian place, Chinese, sandwich shops, etc. The Italian restaurant joined to the hotel is a little pricey, but the pizza there is great! Remember that since the hotel is so close to the UDC campus, you can also order take out from campusfood.com.
