Days Inn Colchester is affordable, clean and very close to the I-89 South on ramp. Located on busy Route 15, the hotel is across from St. Michael's College. This can pose a bit of a problem because the hotel takes on some of the college overflow during the school year.
One of the big draws to this hotel is the availability of jacuzzi rooms. Do not let the advertising deceive you, however, my husband and I were given a night's stay by friends for our 15th wedding anniversary. First, the jacuzzi is in your room--really in your room right next to the bed, not in the bathroom like we'd imagined. Humidity from the jacuzzi can be an issue because the ventilation isn't fantastic, windows steam up quickly taking away the view you might be lucky enough to have. We happened to have a view of the parking lot, so in the end, the view wasn't important. While we were there in winter when air is dry, I would bet that the humidity can lead to mildew issues in the spring and summer.
Parking is ample, but security is somewhat lax. While we were checking out, another guest came in to complain that his car had been vandalized. Windshield wipers had been snapped off, the tires slashed, and windows broken. I can't say were were surprised, the college students in the room next to us had one hell of a party during the night that finally ended at 5am. We'd called down to complain, but the clerk at the front desk barely spoke English and didn't prove to be extremely helpful. I will say that once they did quiet down, we immediately flipped on our jacuzzi (very noisy appliances!) and cranked up our TV to seek revenge before checking out.
To exit the hotel parking lot, it can be tricky turning left onto Route 15 without a traffic light. I recommend taking a right, turning left into the college parking lot at the light a few hundred yards ahead, and then making a u-turn. Burlington's downtown is a couple miles away and hopping on the interstate brings you to the University Mall or Williston's Maple Tree Place.
In the end, the room was okay, but nothing special, the jacuzzi was nice, but incredibly loud, but the noise of the other guests was appalling. I can't say I would stay here again unless it was the only open hotel in town. It's just not worth the aggravation.
