male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The hotel has horrible smell very likely from paint that kept me awake all night. The room was so cold that thermostat was not function at all. Bath room has rust all over the ceiling. Refrigerator was so noisy that I had to unplug it. VERY BAD choice for stay. Not worth for money. The hotel should be close until the condition improves. This was the worst hotel I ever stayed!
I was awakened in my room to the sound of hammering and plaster falling off of the wall in the room next to mine at 8:15 in the morning! When I called the front desk, I was informed that the best they could do was to ask the contractors to wait one hour before working on that room again. According to the manager, the motel is under renovation, and the Days Inn has no way of predicting which rooms will be worked on each day. I guess the "Do Not Disturb" sign was made available to me as a joke.
There were no sheets on the bed in the room to which I was initially sent upon checking in. That should have been my first hint. The art in the next room was off of the walls and leaning on the dresser, and the bathroom was dirty, but I was exhausted from visiting a relative in the hospital all week, so I wasn't too worried about that. Obviously, I should have checked out immediately and gone to the motel across the street. Lesson learned.

45 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
There is not enough room on this page to write all the negatives about this hotel. The non-smoking room smelled very strongly of stale smoke. The carpet was disgustingly filthy, as was the floor in the bathroom. There was a constant sound of running and gurgling water, 24/7, which we were told by maintenance was the cooling system and that "it's just an old hotel". The security chain was broken and never fixed. The TV remote was missing a battery and even when we finally got it replaced almost 48 hours later, it still didn't work. Complaining at the front desk got no response. We were simply told there was nothing that could be done. We stayed here during UVA graduation weekend and at $169.95 a night with a 3 night minimum, you would think they could at least afford to clean the rooms!! Do not patronize this hotel.
