I'd actually give this one a zero, but that wasn't a selection.
The hotel was under going extensive renovation but still remained open, one floor. However, I was not told that when I made reservations which I did directly through this hotel.
We arrived to major demo going on in the hotel. We had tons of luggage, however no one offered to track down a luggage cart stating "the guests had not returned them". What guests, only one floor was open and there was no luggage cart there.
Our room was filthy. There was sticky stuff splattered all over a night stand, the phone, wall and headboard, and no attempt made to clean it up. So I cleaned all the surfaces in our room and was disgusted at what I found. The room was not properly vacuumed in months, there was a white/gray border all around the carpet where the baseboard met up. When we got into bed we found hair, a lot of it, between the sheets. When we called for fresh linens, they had none that fit our king-sized bed.
Our arrival was so late that we didn't even attempt to find another hotel, and by the time I had cleaned the room, watched the hotel manager properly vacuum the room and got clean linens. I was then satisfied with our room. Incredibly, the bathroom was spotless.
Other guests were horribly upset at the condition of their rooms, too. We all stood in the hall and talked to the Days Inn complaint line one after another.
The hotel is going to be made into a Holiday Inn Express, but given the attitude of the manager assuming responsibility of the renovation and the Holiday Inn Express, I wouldn't even stay in a newly renovated version of this hotel.
He was the one that made no attempt to find a luggage cart, did not even offer to discount the room and when he found I had cleaned the room asked if I wanted a job! How insulting!
