The hotel was being renovated and we were not informed of this at check in. One entire floor was closed for renovations and our floor did not have hallway carpet and it had just been painted. The paint smell was extremely strong. However, they did provide an extra air purifier to help. Also, there was no one at the front desk for check in when we arrived. We picked this hotel from several available because it had interior hallways and we thought it would be safer. The continental breakfast was pretty limited. The room was comfortable enough and the price was pretty good. I would have been very upset if we had paid more.

The location was central and convenient to food and attractions. This is an older hotel with good country folks running it. So if you are looking for a 4-star hotel move on, but if you are looking for a cheap good place to sleep this is your place.
This hotel made me feel welcome: The staff was very friendly and went out of there way to insure we had everything we needed. They also were quick with information on what to do in town.

We checked the price online, then called the front desk for a price as we always do. The clerk gave us a higher price and when we told him about the lower internet price he didn't know what to do or say. He stuck with his price so we made our reservation online. When we got to the room it was very filthy. I cleaned the surfaces with a household cleaner and paper towels and came away with a black towel after wiping up most areas. The room smelled like stale cigarette smoke so we had to spray it with disinfectant. The online reservation listed a hairdryer so we didn't take one. Our room didn't have one (it had the holder mounted to the wall). When we brought this to the attention of the front desk they just shrugged and said they couldn't do anything. We asked if they could get one from another room the next morning after people check out and they said they have no way of knowing when people check out. I wonder how the maid knows when to clean the rooms? They do serve a hot breakfast but it wasn't very clean or good. We also had a coffee maker as promised in our room, only it didn't have coffee or condiments. I guess this isn't a valid complaint since they only promised the coffee maker, not the coffee. You just assume that coffee goes along with the maker. The TV was had a front panel ripped off and the phone was missing the plastic cover as well. Overall the hotel was filthy, stunk, was in bad condition, and the clerks at the desk were not helpful and did not offer to do anything more than they absolutely had to. After staying here we have vowed to NEVER ever stay at a Days Inn again.
