31 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for business

Let me explain my situation. I drove through Antioch on my way to corporate training in Atlanta GA. I stayed at this hotel on Saturday, February 17th, 2007 in room 117. I paid with my corporate credit card, showed appropriate ID, and had a nice conversation with the girl behind the desk.

On the last day of my training in Atlanta, I lost my wallet containing everything I needed to get home-driver's license, corporate card, personal credit cards, every identifying piece of information you can imagine. I had no money and needed to figure out where I was going to stay on my journey home so I called this same Days Inn back and explained what happened. I talked to the clerk behind the desk, who was the same girl I'd dealt with just one week before. I begged her to pull my card info and run it again. I told her I had my company's ID badge, but everything else was lost.

At least I had something to show who I was. I even repeated-word for word-the conversation I'd had with her the week before, but she kept repeating that she had policies to follow. I understand policy because I've worked in customer service for the past 7 years and have had to uphold policies myself. But as I told her, I also understand when a customer is in a precarious position and if there's an opportunity to help, that's what you should do. She continued to tell me she couldn't help me. I asked to speak with her manager. She advised he was out until Monday. I told her I would escalate the issue with Days Inn's corporate office and she seemed fine with that! I then asked her if she was refusing to give me her information and refusing to escalate my issue and it was at this point that she hung up on me! I then called Days Inn Customer Service and spoke with a supervisor who said he would be certain to let the hotel manager and Days Inn Executives know what I had been through. He gave me a case number and told me someone would call me in 7-10 business days. I can't wait for that call.

Basically, a word to the wise, don't stay at the Days Inn Antioch. Stay across the freeway at the Vista Inn. I learned from the manager there that he fired the clerk a couple of weeks earlier. If the Days Inn manager has any sense, he'll follow suit and do the same.
