We got a suit and it was nice the kids sleept on the fold out couch in living room and we had a door to our room that we could shut and have privacy. Location was great, behind the Hotel was the City Market and front, when you walk across the st and down the stairs wich is right there when you cross you are on river st. Breakfast was great too.

This place is a great location to the riverfront. Just walk across the street and you are there. Many places to eat within walking distance. Breakfast was good except for the canned gravy and frozen biscuits.

I booked a Queen Suite for four adults, specifically requesting a room with 2 beds and a sleeper sofa. The evening before we were scheduled to arrive I called the hotel directly to confirm that the room would have this arrangement. The room we received, however, had only one bed and a sleeper sofa. After several attempts to resolve the issue, and several transfers back and forth from the desk staff to the central reservation line (it seems that neither one nor the other wanted to deal with the problem) we were finally told that they were fully booked and therefore they couldn't do anything about it. The basic attitude was that it wasn't their problem.
The parking garage exit is very temperamental. An employee watched my friend have problems and advised her "That's not going to work" before walking off. Another guest of the hotel finally walked over and helped her to navigate the exit.
I travel to Savannah several times a year, but this was my first time staying at the Inn at Ellis Square . I can guarantee that it will be my last. In fact, after the disturbing amount of attitude I received from several representatives at the central reservation line, I will do my best to avoid Days Inn in the future.
The location of the Inn is wonderful - easy walking distance to River Street and attractions in the Historic District.
We had a mixed experience with the hotel over our 4 days. After having issues getting into the parking garage (and being accused by the front desk staff of trying to let extra people into the parking garage), we made it to our room. The light turned green and the door would NOT open. Throughout our stay, it took an average of three attempts to get the lock to work correctly - something is misaligned and again, the attitude from the front desk was less than helpful. To our knowledge, engineering never checked it out - though their response to the clogged toilet one morning was very rapid.
Our room was nicely appointed and clean. We were in a suite as we were traveling with our seven year old son. Resolution on "his" TV was poor, but remedied by hooking up his DVD player. It is a good thing we brought that along as over 1/3 of the advertised TV channels did not work (and 24 hours of advertising for DirecTV does not count as a channel).
Finally, the pool was not yet opened, which was a big disappointment to the above mentioned seven year old.
On the last day, our maid assured us that the towels she had run out of would be brought to us. Come morning, we were drying off with every available hand towel. Once again, the front desk was LESS than helpful.
Breakfast was typical Days Inn Fare. We tend to eat late, and it was disappointing to see them removing food BEFORE the advertised end time of 10:00 a.m.
The gentlemen staffing the concierge desk were both knowledgeable and delightful and helped us to have a great weekend in spite of the front desk staff.

As mentioned, the location of this hotel is ideal, right between River Street and the City Market. You will not be without a great number of dining and shopping options.
The price of the hotel seemed fair and competitive. Be aware that parking is $9/day, but you can come and go as many times as you pleased. For the area, that's a very reasonable price for parking.
Our only complaint was that they got our room wrong, and handled it very poorly. They had us booked as 1 night in a two-bed room, when I had booked 2 nights with a King suite.
Before we got to the hotel, they apparently had straightened this out (we called on our way to verify our reservation). However, when we got there, they put us in the room with two bed.
When I called the front desk, the attendant, Wayne Mah, said I should "come down and get the proper keys". I said, "no, you may bring them to me".
He brought me the keys and walked with us as we dragged our luggage down the hall to our new room. The new keys didn't work. He went to get new keys. Again.
This time, the keys worked, and when we said "thanks", he replied with a "yep" and walked off. Needless to say, I called his manager and complained. If he hadn't been so rude, it would've been much easier to forget the whole incident.
Overall, I recommend this hotel. However, just call and check everything before you get there. They might need a little bit more time to get things lined up for you.

Location was good. Lobby was nice. The room was terrible! The layout was very unusual, couldn't see tv from bed. Carpet was taped to floor, also had big humps in carpet, it was also in need of a cleaning, maybe even replaced. Bathroom was very small, dirt build up in corners. There was a pipe sticking out of ceiling over bathtub that had a constant drip. The employees were nice. In major need of upgrading/cleaning. Would not recommend to others.

This was a most disappointing hotel. It may have been an inn at one time but seems just like an average hotel now. There is NO Ellis Square ( it's covered by a parking garage), two sides of the building have construction and two sides border very busy noisy streets. Staff was polite but hardly welcoming.
Chairs by the entrance are filled with people having their smokes. Room was clean but just like any average good hotel, not what we thought of when we selected an 'inn.'
