The place is perfect for families wishing to visit the local sites. The hotel is quiet and convenient.

I have stayed at the Hanalei Hotel in San Diego many times over the years. I have never had any problems and will stay there when I visit San Diego again.

This hotel made me feel entertained: There was a live Hawaiian show in the pool area on Friday night.

It had good service. The restaurants were below average.

This hotel made me feel welcome: They had cheerful and friendly desk people.

This hotel is decent. The best thing about it is the locale if you are not just looking for beach access. This Hotel is situated nicely between beach, shopping and many of the local colleges (SDSU, my old school) and several UC schools as well as downtown San Diego.

When I stayed here again it seemed that nothing had changed in over 15 years. Yet the rooms were still decent.

I'd likely only stay there again if I had business or specific activities not located by the beach.

The multiple levels of the various rooms and facilities made it a little difficult to get around with my bad knee and back. The luau on Friday was nothing special. It made the time pass, but that was about it.

I did not like the front desk staff ignoring a guest - myself who had a simple problem with a room key card to be fixed.

The location was centrally located. The hotel staff was very accommodating. The room service was fantastic. I recommend travelers to stay here when in San Diego.

This hotel made me feel entertained: I was involved in a wheelchair tennis tournament, and the hotel catered our banquet and supplied a DJ.

The hotel was very nice. I have some difficulty with steps and there were a lot of them between meeting rooms, my room and the lobby. There was a very friendly and competent staff except for the Sunday morning breakfast buffet where the waiter was somewhat surely when I wanted to sit with friends at a table that people had already vacated. He pointed out another table where the place settings had not been used. I got my own silverware, etc., off another table.

This hotel made me feel welcome: It had very friendly desk personnel and a very friendly bartender.

The location was wonderful; close to transit/trolley system. We enjoyed the room, but the in-room coffee needs improvement.

This hotel made me feel pampered: We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the bell hop gave us good service to the room.

It was fine except for the parking fee. I think it's unreasonable.

I like the hotel's location. I like the prompt service bringing me extra pillows. I like the nice view and nice size rooms.

I was very impressed with the quality of the room for the price we paid. The room had an excellent view and was larger than an average hotel room. The actual hotel was amazing and very unique.

It's a great hotel, with an excellent location on hotel row, and is easy to find. It has a nice, slightly exotic look.

I was never inconvenienced by the cleaning staff, regardless of my unpredictable schedule. They managed to clean my room daily. They weren't knocking on my door trying to get me to leave so they could clean! I appreciate the consideration!

The swimming pool was too cold, but it was still fun.

Charging for parking at an old facility, when they previously did not, seems unwarranted. It might as well be added to the room rate since there is no on-street parking available, and virtually all guests arrive by car.

Red Lion Hanalei Hotel was much better than two other hotels in which I've stayed in in the same area (Hotel Circle, San Diego).
