The Crowne Plaza Hamilton Washington, DC is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The staff was first rate. From the front door to the room, everyone seemed eager to help and answer any of your questions.
The problem came with the valet service (which is a contracted company and not actually employees of the hotel). Only one time did we get our car within the 20 minutes that they request. Valet damaged our rental car on day 2 of our trip, causing us to miss all but the 4th quarter of the Redskins game. Valet was miserable from the first day. Hotel staff did everything they could to make up for our inconvenience of having to file police reports and insurance paperwork. We met with the General Manager, who was more than willing to help salvage the rest of our trip to the best of his ability. Very apologetic and sincere in his attempts. I cannot tell you how wonderful this hotel is. Unfortunately valet parking is mandatory, so I advise taking a picture before leaving your car with the valet, just as proof. The hotel and valet service were able to determine who messed up the car. So I am sure that he was reprimanded appropriately.
Please consider this hotel for your stay. The bed is the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. Hotel is convenient to most anything. Restaurants close early, so keep that in mind. Our friends' room was kind of small, but our room was very, very roomy. Sleep package waiting on the bed upon arrival with CD, ear plugs, calming linen spray, etc. Robe available in the bathroom. Be prepared to do a lot of tipping.
Despite the valet nightmare, I would definitely stay in the hotel again.
