Crowne Plaza Cromwell Hotel

This hotel exceeded my expectations. I was figuring this place to be equivalent to a Motel 6/Super 8. No way. Bear in mind this is not the Ritz, and for the price I was not expecting to be like the Ritz. For the price I was quite impressed by the service (was checked in and out within 1-2 minutes, they were helpful looking up information within the community for me, Joe the bartender attended the bar like a hawk and was very friendly to be with, the restaurant service sitting was quick, and the beverages were served promptly with very helpful and friendly smiles on the waitress and the matra de), the beds (clean, comfortable beds, 7 pillow with a cache bag of goodies, that included lavender spray, night mask and chocolate), the rooms were kept cleaned and bed made daily, the staff was friendly and helpful, the room included, what appeared to be a new fridg, and microwave. The hangers were made out of wood with a mahogany finish. The bathroom was bit tiny and cramped, but provided nice amount amenities including a good quality shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The hotel also provided a free use of a computer and free internet access. The food quality was moderate quality - I had the French Onion soup which was better than 3 of the restaurants in town. It did lack the appropriate bread and the base of the soup was on the thick side and there could be more sweet onions included, this is comparing it to quality French onion soups I have tried over my lifetime, for the price I was not complaining. The other food I tried was there breakfast buffet. They can provide an omelet which you have the option of having ham, diced onions, diced red and green peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. In the buffet they also have french toast, sausage links, bacon, scrambled eggs, and a fruit bar which included cut up cantaloupe, kiwi, bananas, strawberry's, etc. The also provided a mixture of cereals to choose from. The table wear was top a good quality silverware, with cloth napkins, the china was of good quality. And for the price is what not out of line.

I was quite impressed by my overall experience at this place, and will go back in a heartbeat when I compare this other motels/hotels I have stayed in during my lifetime. Even when I compare this the Clarion in Bristol where I had the opportunity to talk with several guests about their experience there.

The hotel had just been taken over and it was working on improvements. However, the restaurant and the bar seemed to go down hill a little.

I found the people working at the hotel they were very nice for the most part. A gentleman working for maintenance even came out to jump my car when I left the interior lights on overnight. My only complaint would be that the people in the hotel restaurant were very inattentive. I felt as if I needed to chase someone down in order to get something to drink after sitting at the table for fifteen minutes being ignored.

This Crowne Plaza hotel used to be a locally owned hotel and it was not typical for a Crowne Plaza hotel. It was not as nice and luxurious as most hotels of the brand are.

The hotel is easy to find, close to the highway, clean and quiet.
