We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Old Town for seven nights in late April 2006. The hotel was very nice, the room furnishing were lovely, had large rooms, and a friendly staff. However, I reserved a room about the second floor with a patio but was given a room on the first floor that opened up to the main road, the check-in clerk had a bit of a snit when asked to change it, but he did.
As I said, the room was lovely and there were chocolates on the pillow the first night and the second night, but then they stopped. Yes, we left a $5 tip each day. Paper products seemed to be at a premium, I had to go round up Kleenex twice and TP once. There is a very nice laundry room, two washers and two driers. Unfortunately, one washer constantly wouldn't work and they would not put an out-of-order sign on it. There was a busload of people from Australia who were not impressed to have to wash clothes a three a.m.
They had a very nice outdoor pool, it was well maintained, and every morning they cleaned it, and an impressive work out room beside it, but no washroom close by, quite an inconvenient set-up. The restaurant was not open after breakfast, but they did have an extremely limited room service menu.
This is a businessmen's hotel, so the pool area was quiet during the week, but on the weekend they must have a family special going on because there were a lot of kids around.
It's in a nice location to Old Scottsdale, restaurants and the freeway.
This hotel is much nicer than the pictures on their web site. It sounds like a lot of complaints, but they were more irritants than problems. I would stay there again.
