I was looking for an affordable rate for a 2 night stay in Chicago, and was told of this hotel's "weekend" rate, with a discounted rate of a good bit under $100 a night for stays from a Thursday to a Saturday, and was sold. Compared to the rates in town, the rate was a literal steal.
Most suburban hotels do offer reduced rates, but few are as convenient as the Courtyard Marriott Deerfield, which is located just about 2 city blocks length from a METRA Commuter Rail Station (Lake Cook). In addition, PACE buses 422 and 626 run close to the hotel, and serve the Dempster and Linden CTA "L" Stations.
The area around the hotel will never win any awards for urban chic, but there are amenities within walking distance. Just next door is a very good Greek restaurant, and further down Lake Cook on the opposite side of the METRA line are still other eateries.
As for the hotel itself, it is a very good Marriott property. Pretty quiet in nature, but that's a good thing when you're trying to sleep. No complaints about cleanliness, as this property was quite clean. One more PC in the business center would be a nice touch, as there always seemed to be a queue waiting to use it.
