Travelers may be enthusiastic because of the price, room size, quality of the hotel, etc. I had two important requirements and Country Inn & Suites By Carlson in Galena met both.
1. I was in a business trip and I needed a reliable Internet...
35 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
July 4th 2008 First checking in some lady at the front desk had her blouse unbuttoned which in tern you could see her nasty chest/push up bra get for kids, should have just left before I even checked in. (I looked past it) So I get to the hot room $178.00 a night which is a little extreme for how small and filthy the room was. I go and lie on the bed and look at the TV and under it there is a 1/2 ate Viagra pill, so I jump off the comforter and take the pill to the front desk, letting them know there house keeping skills are that of a 1 star hotel. Go back to the room and take a shower and grab what appears to be a clean towel white towel, little to my surprise there something crusty on the towel, must have had something to do with the Viagra! Back to the front desk I go with the nasty towel. I had to ask for a new towel and that was like pulling teeth. So I go and fill up the hot tub in the room, get it all filled up and what’s floating in the tub but a nice dead spider, so I drain the hot tub , after its drained I see dirt left behind in the tub , at this point I get to play house keeper and wipe the hot tub down. I will never go back I have been staying at the Country inn in stockton and they seem to employ house keepers that clean, if you go to galena I would stay in stockton and drive the little distance. Oh and the hotel did knock $25 off of my stay, so for what ever thats worth ? Location is way off of the main strip.
Save your money and stay somewhere else!

This was a clean and comfortable place to stay. Excelent price! Nice size pool with big water slide was very fun for the kids. Hug 12 person hot tub, didn't feel crowded. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was free and consisted of Coffee, juice, toast, ...

A pleasant surprise. Nice room/great bed. Very CLEAN. Great parking (for my new car). and convienent too. Lacking: tv reception is below average. Oh, very excellant price for this tourist area.
Be sure to stop in at the GrapeEscape Wine bar downtown...what fun.

This was our second time at this hotel. Some of the staff recognized us from the previous year, that made us feel welcome. It has an easy to find location, with plenty of parking.
Everyone was polite and seemed glad that we were there.
I am very likely
to return to the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Galena.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
