Mediocre
Four years ago my daughter was to have her wedding reception here and they called friday night before the wedding and said it was doubled booked. We had a reservation for one year and had gone that thursday and told them how we wanted it set up. Now ...
The hotel is beautiful. It almost looks like a Manor House. Full of character and charm. This would be a great place for an elegant wedding. I just loved it.

I had stayed at this hotel before and it was very pleased. This time the service was not near as good. My son's room was not clean on arrival and things were very disorganized at check in. Many of our friends who also stayed there at the same time had many problems.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Decatur.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Horrible
We are both handicapped and were put on the 3rd floor in the 3rd building fartherest from the only elevator. This hotel is divided into buildings which only a few are currently being used. The only elevator is in the first building where you have to ...

The ceiling in my bedroom and bath was in need of repair from a leak from the room above. The ceiling paint was peeling and looked as if part of the plaster could fall. I reported this to the front desk. I also reported the fact that my room had several light bulbs out. I was specific about which bulbs needed replacing. Only one bulb was replaced. The air duct vent in the living area was very dirty and I personally cleaned it off. The bath tub had peeling protective strips that were loose in the tub and my shower curtain had mold on it. I liked the size of the rooms and the fact that we could have two bedrooms opening onto a common living room. That worked well for our needs. We also enjoyed the microwave and the refrigerator being in the room.

Good
Very nice property, clean and new. Friendly, competent staff. However, even with a courtyard room, the noise from the train is an issue. Also, the breakfast buffet could have benefitted from more attention. Try the "City Grill" (IIRC) for an...
The service at the front desk is horrible. My family has stayed several times a year for the last ten years. For the last three years each time we stayed has been a horrible experience. They always mess up our reservations, and refuse to fix them....

This hotel is a quaint property in a historic district. The railroad tracks nearby may not awaken but the whistles are audible. The free breakfast is very average.
