Upon first arriving, the property looked pleasant and inviting, but the honeymoon was soon over. But the real surprise was the next morning when we wanted to take showers - NO HOT WATER. I called the front desk only to be told, "This is an ongoing problem." At a major hotel - that's the response I got? I asked for another room and she said there is not hot water in the hotel. We ended up staying for 4 days (the whole town was booked solid) and that meant a series of cold showers for the whole family. I'm amazed they can wash the dishes from the restaurant, or wash the dirty linens for that matter. I was really put off by not having any hot water (seems very unsanitary). I'm surprised this hotel is allowed to stay open - see comment in May by another reader - this is obviously a serious, yet unresolved, problem.

Beware the "special event"cancellation policy of this hotel and lack of knowledge of staff. Called July 1 and booked a room for a future date in Ocotober 2008 for football season. Was quoted standard cancellation policy by hotel staff. Credit Card charge showed up July 6... called to see why and was given accurate "special event" cancellation by staff. Called customer service was allowed to cancel and told to expect refund within 7-10 days.... called again after no refund... directed to Marriott Business Services .....called them twice and now 7/28 told only option is to dispute with credit card company....my future business is likely lost... could be the costliest Hawkeye game ever

I can't believe Marriott lets this motel stay in its company. Worst Marriott I have ever stayed in, DIRTY, DIRTY, rude staff, and non existant management. Save your money and stay at the motel 6, you will have a better stay.

We stayed in this hotel in April 2008 because all the other hotels in Iowa city were booked and this was dreadful! The hotel is rather new, yet the rooms were dirty and we had to ask to move but the lady at the front desk said "all the rooms are like that!" Due to comfort we ate in the hotel restaurant twice were the food is worse than any Marriott hotel we stayed in and were served by the same incompetent server who was busy flirting with our teenage son!
I would recommend the hotel Vetro or Sheraton in Iowa City over this poorly cheaply finished hotel.

Terrible hotel. Hotel had no hot water, dirty bathroom, dirty carpet, pay to park- in the middle of Iowa, what a joke, over priced, rude desk staff. I will never stay there again.

Having been a guest twice now, I'm still amazed that such a wonderful place exists in Eastern Iowa.
As the keystone for Coralville's riverside redevelopment project, this facility is a jewel. While there isn't much yet around the hotel and convention center, they have started on a section of residence over retail on the street that runs in front of the hotel. By next summer, there should be people living in the condos over first rate shopping and nightclubs. Land is still being cleared and eventually there will be everything from corporate offices to condos all around it. There are even plans for a sports arena and a marina on the river before they are finished.
The hotel itself is wonderfully clean and staffed by some of the friendliest people I've met on my travels. I reserved and received the deluxe king room I requested and even had a small refrigerator installed for my visit.
The beds were spotless and very comfortable. The plasma TV with its many media plug-ins were unique and functioned perfectly. The desk even swings out so you could share the TV while working. The comfy desk chair was a real bonus.
While the rooms aren't the largest I've ever stayed in, neither time did I feel cramped. They were comfortable and clean. That's what I look for in a hotel room.
The housekeeping staff were great and the breakfast buffet was perfect.
If you're a smoker, forget it. The entire place is smoke free. Personally, I prefer it that way.
The parking is about $8 a night but it's in a controlled and covered parking garage that's not so far away to be inconvenient.
If you're traveling to Iowa City or Coralville or just stopping for the night, this place is class at a reasonable price.

We stayed here for a friend's wedding last July and it is now our favorite hotel in the Iowa City/Coralville area! The lobby decor is very modern with bright & upbeat colors. The beds were comfy and clean, the hotel staff members were friendly, there is a nice sized lobby with an outdoor deck to the back pond area, very modern for a city in Iowa...We have no complaints whatsoever!! We are excited for another stay there when we are back in the area!!!

This location has great eye appeal, but that's where it ends.
The interior was a welcome site after trekking the 300 or so feet from the parking ($8/day) in the 20 degree with 20 mph Iowa North wind. That is until the bedding was turned down to reveal the body hair, crusties and stains on the sheets.
We were offered another room and voucher but opted for the exit! If this is tolerable in one room why not more?
