45 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

As the only hotel we found with vacancies New Years Eve, the reasons became apparent. On the good side, the rooms are good sized maybe even large, and the location is on the beach and close to many attractions. On the bad, well the ac/heat was glitchy, no drinking cups in bathroom nor coffee maker, missing towel rack in bathroom, no tissues in the dispenser, the sink faucets leaked excessively, the hall ice machine was out of order, the walls are paper thin and the neighbors talking at normal volume sounded like they were in your bathroom, maids don't vacuum during your stay, pool was not heated, poker chip size fungus growing out the side of the pool's bar, and if this is any indication of the on site restaurant the jelly appeared to be so old that it was the consistency of a thick paste when pulling it out of the little plastic containers. Lastly, the tv got about 6-7 channels, mostly in Spanish, and picture and sound was good on half of them. Speaking of Spanish, though this is Miami, it is still America. Except for the front desk staff, most of the help doesn't seem to know any English.

Think of a stay here as a bit more like camping. Nuff said.

21 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I came to this hotel thinking the $165.00 a night was going to serve us well.

Once we showed up, we found out that the check in time changes depending on whatever the staff wants to do, and to make more money, they charged us an extra $50 just to check in early. This happened to us twice because we had already made reservations here for our cruise and every other hotel was booked.

The first time we came the staff was very unpleasant, they had no understanding of basic English and they were absolutely the most rude hotel staff I have ever dealt with. The first room we were at was terrible, it had scuff marks all over and a blood stain on the wall. Not to mention the dirty carpet that I refused to walk barefoot on, dirty sheets (brought my own thankfully), a dirty bathroom, dirty windows and the room smelled of funk. The ceiling was stained as well.

Anyway that was the first time we stayed here, the second time, the room had all of the above plus the room smelled like pure urine, and the beds weren't made when we came in. When I opened the curtain, the only view I had was the roof to a part of the building in which a homeless man was living. His living area was better than ours. There is no internet in the rooms, the LAN connections don’t work, you have to go to the lobby or the second floor. The elevators smell like urine. Food was terrible.

Just an overall scummy place to stay and I don't recommend it for the faint of heart.

I speak Spanish and English very well. And there is no way the people at the front desk would understand a word of what you need. They have many types of rooms; the bad, which is as big as the bed, with all the walls stained and very dirty carpets with an awful and noisy bed; then they have the little bit better one, not as dirty, not stained walls, but the bed is the same. It looks good in the picture, but don't go there. No parking space at any time if you don't have $15 a day, no pool, internet is only in the lobby because the lan cable in the room doesn't work. So forget about privacy when you work.

This "hotel" (and I use that word loosely) is the absolute worst place to stay in Miami. The room was extremely dirty. There were massive stains in the carpet, scuff marks all over the wall, lights not working and funky linens. It rained the 1st morning we were there and the rain came in through the window and drenched our luggage. The worst part is the bathtub in the first room we had, literally "moved". The tub was separated from the wall and water seeped underneath giving it a "waterbed" type effect. We were disgusted. We switched rooms, only to find more dirt, more scuff marks, more nasty linens and more non-working lights. We have stayed at many hotels and this one is by far the cruddiest. Don't waste your money.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel. It was an unbelievable $149.00 a night.

The pictures they display on their website cannot describe how horrible these rooms are. And to make it even more resentful, the front desk personnel are not very courteous but know one speaks English. If you stay here you are really asking for the worst hotel in Miami. This is the worst hotel I've ever seen and we travel a lot! The Continental Downtown Bayside and the Port of Miami is the worst. Avoid this hotel if you can, or sleep in you car.

The hotel is very dated and the staff is not particularly friendly.

The floor in the room was wet where the small fridge was leaking. There was no alarm clock and the desk did not make the requested wake up call.

The draft from the window was strong enough to blow the curtains.

We will not stay there again!

44 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

My husband and I stayed here before we went on a cruise. I was the dirtiest hotel I have every stayed in. We couldn't wait to get on the ship to shower. The bathroom was dirty, the sheets were not clean, and the carpet and walls were filthy.

This place is a dump and I will never stay here again. The room I was in had crayon scribbles on the walls; the base of the shower tub was crackling and felt unstable; it took forever just to wait for an elevator; the room & hallways were pungent of mold, mildew, and dirt; bed linen was soiled that my family laid out towels on the bed becuase we did not trust the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility. The only moment I enjoyed about this place was when I checked out and walked out of this hotel never to return again. This place is GHETTO! Ugh!

I am not likely to return to the Continental Hotel Miami Bayside.
I would not recommend it to friends.
