This was my first stay at the Comfort Suites hotel, chosen because of some good reviews given by friends. We had reservations for a regular suite but due to a few mix ups and complications, our suite was not available so they upgraded us to a penthouse suite free of charge. This was sure exciting as we usually do not spend our stays in the ‘penthouses’.
The hotel itself is in a great location, deep at the heart of downtown Toronto. It is situated near the shop-filled Eaton centre and is also surrounded by many other hotels if you choose to stay elsewhere!
The penthouse suite had many admirable amenities. The two floor suite had two bedrooms, one king sized bed, one queen sized bed, one sofa bed, three couches, one TV (cable must be purchased separately – how annoying!), two washrooms and heart shaped whirlpool bath in the first floor bedroom.
Although those features may be attractive, our stay was quite the opposite. We had arrived and checked into the hotel quite late as we had a gala to attend earlier and it was difficult moving in and out of the hotel.
For the penthouse suites, the entrance card must be used for the elevator in order to reach the penthouse floor. This constant use of the cards became quite bothersome as there are more than two people staying at the hotel room. They also restrict the number of people that are allowed to stay over night in a room, forcing us to send some friends away to stay at another hotel.
One thing we quickly noticed about the room was the cleanliness. At first look, the room appeared to be clean but there were many undesirable qualities. The most repulsive aspect was the stains found on the sofa and couches. The stains were extremely noticeable in size and quantity and one could only imagine what they could be! Truthfully, we were very disturbed.
Overall, we did not entirely enjoy our stay at the Comfort Suites hotel. There were many other small annoyances with the hotel, but the ones listed above were the most irritating. We wouldn’t pass off the hotel entirely but they probably would not see us again!
