The manager is very rude and had to split up our group because they overbooked the hotel. When we said we brought a babysitter so she could watch all kids and seperate hotels will not work. He Said: I do not know what to tell you this is your only

Travelers be ware !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked for AAA discount and was supposedly given one. However, when I went to the pool and after talking to others I find out that I was double charged. I was charged $170.64 and was supposed to be charged $93.51. After speaking to the owner, I was told "this is America and he can charge what ever he wants". In addition, I was told that the unit was 1 year old and after commenting on the bad condition of the units I was told that the water park is 1 year old and not the complex. The water park does not seem like 1 years old as most of the items that are made out of the rope where ripped apart and the bathrooms where in terrible shape. There was so much chlorine in the park that the water had a lot of foam on it as if someone put soap in it. It smelled so strong and the kids got a rush from it. Water was very cold. All other local motels have an agreement with this motel and all are using this water park which is about 1,000S.F. I verified this myself. Room had pretzels on the floor under the table from the previous guests. Water adjustments in the shower almost impossible. Please put your reviews on this web site so others can see it:
As to the Mackinaw City I do agree, there is nothing to do there unless you are 60 and like antiques. The beaches are very dirty, and in existing. City has about 2 blocks. You better travel to Traverse City or Petoskey.

The manager pulled a bait and switch on the price when we got there, and tried to increase our $58 per night reservation price to $118. After we complained, she gave us what she called a "deal" at $98 per night for a "lake view" room. Actually, we had a view of the hotel parking lot and the hotel next door. You couldn't see the lake without leaning over the rail and craning your neck.
The breakfast dining area is directly above the pool area, and the smell of mold in the dining area is overpowering. When we complained to the manager who checked us in, she denied that she was the manager and told us that the hotel does not have a manager. I sent a letter to the Cheyboygan County Health Department to complain about the mold, but it was ignored. They don't care about tourists in Mackinaw City-they only want your money.
The housekeeping was terrible, and the employees were rude and unhelpful. I could go on and on. My advice is to not only stay away from Comfort Suites "Lake view," but Mackinaw City altogether. There is really nothing worth seeing there.

I made a confirmation call on July 23rd. Everything was ok. Made another confirmation call on July 25th. Again all was well. Drove over 5 hours on July 26th, arrived at hotel at 5:20pm. Was told that my credit card was no good (apparently a number was transposed when they recorded it) and they just rented my room out "10 minutes ago". When I asked for the manager was told that he left "10 minutes ago", what a coincidence! Apparently, they charge for the entire time you are going to spend there long before you arrive. I was told that they tried to call me (I checked the caller id when I got home, no call was made, no message left). At the hotel I was told they would help find me another room but it would be at a higher rate. How would they know this? They are certainly not the lowest priced hotel in town. I declined their help and found my own room. I doubt I will return to Mackinaw area again, my wife and 8 year old son were very disappointed. The Mackinaw area are used to be a nice, high-priced resort area, now it has become a high-priced money scam. Due to less people travelling up there, the hotels have resorted to doing ANYTHING to make a buck. Too bad.

The manager increased the rate $50 from the reserved rate when we checked in because "our prices are variable." The kids' feet were black from walking on the carpet. The room was not cleaned when we returned at 3:30pm. We checked out and stayed at the Best Western down the street.

When I book a hotel and a breakfast is included I assume, as most people would, that it's actually at the hotel. Instead we come down at 7 to find that we have to walk across the street and then several blocks away to another hotel. More than a little deceiving. Be careful.

The location was excellent as was hotel staff's service. The room was as promised except it had an everlasting smell of mold and cigarettes even though it was supposed to be non-smoking.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Comfort Suites.
I might recommend it to friends.
