Excellent
I was in Portland for the birth of my grandchild. The staff was just wonderful, trying to make my time there easier at every turn. They even offered food from the breakfast room before I left for the airport at 5am when I returned. Next time I go ...

Excellent
this hotel is a clean, friendly, safe place. Just be careful about room charges if you prepaid the room. Make certain BEFORE you leave that NO charges for the room are placed upon your card if you didn't use any incidentals.

Very comfortable beds. The standard room was larger than one usually finds and included a refrigerator and small sofa in addition to two beds. Easy access to the airport.

After the first night, we left the room to spend the day in Portland. Got back around 3 p.m. The room still wasn't cleaned so we took a walk thinking that it couldn't be much longer since housekeeping staff was 2 doors down. Back in the room about 4 ...

Mediocre
When we checked in at midnight, they didn't have our reservation, then found it after much todo. We were given key cards and told what room to go to. Much to my dismay, when I opened the door, someone was already in the room! A very distraught older ...

This is NOT a Hotel. While the rooms are updated, the rest of the property is in disarray. It is not a self contained 1 building hotel. There are several buildings that you either walk or drive to, then enter an unlocked open access hallway to access your room. Basically, anyone can walk right up and knock on your room door without ever passing hotel staff. The parking areas are inadequate and poorly lighted. Security is non-existent and the area leaves you with a feeling that you are completely un-safe staying there. I feel misled by the star rating and the photos on their website.
Service was not in-line with ANY other 3 star hotel I have ever stayed in. Front desk clerks were unkempt and abrasive. My room was not cleaned every day. When it was cleaned there was always something forgotten (towels etc.) I also had to wait to both check in and check out as there was only 1 clerk at the front desk at any given time.
Again, I will state this IS NOT A HOTEL! Hotels are expected to be self contained in 1 building with secure inner hallways to access guest rooms. Although the rooms at this facility face an inner hallway, that hallway is accessed from an open stairwell and doors that have NO locking mechanism (not even a door handle). I would describe this as a Motel 6 with granite countertops!
Better choices in the PDX area are The Embassy Suites and the Hilton Garden inn. I have stayed at both of these hotels before and they make the Red Lion look like a motel that should be rented by the hour!

The big surprise was that this motel had been a Red Lion and had recently changed to a Comfort Inn and Suites. We had stayed at the Red Lion a year ago and because of reasonable pricing booked this motel thinking it was a different motel. Our stay...

Convenience to the hotel where I met the tour operator. They gave me a smoking room when I specifically asked for a non-smoking room. Other than being in a smoking room, this hotel was adequate. I should have stayed in the Soldier Pony hotel right...
