Card keys did not work properly from the beginning and manager never brought us working keys as she stated she would. Toilet seat was broken and slipped and slid as you sat on it. Refrigerator was loud enough to keep us awake until we unplugged it. When we complained I was told the rate would be reduced to $49 but when appeared in my statement was $98! I tried to talk to the manager but she was very unresponsive and said she would ask the owner if there would be any reductions. So much for their 100% satisfaction guarantee!

I had one of the worst experience in getting credit for the cancelled reservation. Finally got it after 5 months.
Advice: if you do any transaction with this hotel keep very good records for proof.
On July 29, 2006 I was driving from Lubbock Texas to Las Vegas, NV. I had reserved a room here for a one night stay on July 29, 2006 through aaa a week before. According to the reservation policy, i had to cancel the room before 6:00 pm on July 29 2006 to avoid any charges.
On July 29, 2006, due to unavoidable circumstances on the road, I had to stay at Sheraton at Albuquerque. Therefore, around 5:30 pm I called the la quinta inn at Gallup and tried to cancel the reservation. The person on attended my call was unable to find my reservation detail and after 5 minutes on the phone he said my reservation is cancelled.
After promptly, canceling my reservation, I was charged in my credit card. On calling the manager, he said he cannot do anything and I had to dispute it as I did not have any cancellation number.
The person who cancelled my reservation never told cancellation number even though he said my reservation was cancelled.
It took me 5 months, writing letters to my credit card company sending my phone bills indicating the time the call was made to cancel etc.. to get my credit back.
Also, btw, I also wrote a complain letter to la quinta inn management in Texas. Not surprisingly, I never received any reply.

Its in a very convenient location and has a friendly staff. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. The free breakfast was outstanding. I would recommend this motel to all.
I felt safe and secure along with having a very comfortable room and bed.
I am very likely
to return to the Comfort Inn Gallup.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Everything seemed okay, until the power went out in our room. We called the front desk and they said it would reset in a few minutes. We waited, and nothing happened. We ended up getting ready in the dark and went to confront the front desk.
The manager who finally showed up after an hour was rude, non-apologetic, and refused to give us any sort of discount for the inconvenience of showering in the dark.
It was the worst experience I have ever had anywhere!
Overall was great except for one incident!

Mediocre
The room was clean and comfortable. A large selection of breakfast. At breakfast another guest accidentally bumped in to me while I had a cup of coffee in my hand. The coffee spilled all on my arm and had. My hand was red for a while, but not too...

This hotel was near a railroad that runs 24/7 and runs every half hour, day and night. Expect no sleep.
Of course, we found that to be true of all motels anywhere along Route 66. We even got it again in Flagstaff at the Best Western motel. It was also along Route 66.
