Some friends of ours reserved a block of rooms for their wedding with a guaranteed $60 rate. A month before the wedding, I called and reserved one of those rooms directly with the hotel, and guaranteed the room with a credit card. I clarified at that time that we would get the wedding rate.
When we arrived, we were told that since the room was guaranteed with my credit card instead of the bride and groom's card, and because we had arrived after 6 PM, that we would have to pay the regular $93 rate. We were also told at that time that all of the wedding rooms would have the same problem.
Since it was Friday evening, and all of the other rooms in the small town of Delta were booked, I paid the $80 extra for the weekend. When I tried to leave a message for the manager, the receptionist hung up on me.
At the wedding we found out that other people paid only the $65 when they
checked in, and that relatives of the bride and groom had been in touch with
the manager and that we would be refunded the amount over the guaranteed rate.
When we went to check out, the woman at the desk said that she couldn't give us a refund or change the rate, but that we should call the next day and the owner/manager would handle things.
I called the hotel three times in the weeks after the wedding, filed a complaint with the better business bureau, and attempted to dispute the charges on my credit card.
Now, a month later, the manager has not responded to any of my phone calls, has not offered me a refund of any kind, and denied the wedding rate ever existed to the Better Business Bureau.
We weren't the only people at this wedding who got this treatment, and I would not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel.
