40 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We canceled our reservation at a neighboring hotel that was extremely overpriced that included cranky front desk personnel and a nasty room.
Our welcome at this hotel was sincere, warm and hospitable and offered even more then we expected for a reasonable price. The attached restaurant provided a wonderful meal for our family at a reasonable price. The pool was unique and enjoyable. There is a nice ambiance to this hotel that appears to be in the nexus of poor hotels.
We stayed for two nights. Our room was never cleaned after we arrived.
I had to ask for clean towels three times before anyone responded. The first time I was told that we would have clean towels in 15 minutes, the second time I was told we couldn't get any clean towels, and the third time someone finally came with clean towels. I had to hand over the dirty towels to the maid. I asked her for a bar of soap and she proceeded to go into another room where she produced a bar of soap. Now that got me to wondering exactly where my clean towels came from!
The beds themselves leave a lot to be desired. The mattress and box spring had yellowish stains all over the sides.
The staff was rude and unaccommodating. This was not the first time we stayed at this hotel, but it sure is the last time. Find someplace else in the area. There are a lot of better hotels.

I stay for business at a lot of hotels. After reading the reviews here, I decided to stay elsewhere this time (Mt. Pleasant), but to stop in here to look around, for the next time I was in the area.
The desk clerk took almost ten minutes to appear. I waited in the lobby a long time. The desk clerk didn't seem friendly, and I felt I was imposing on her day. However, she showed me a room, it seemed OK, and the place was not crowded at all. She said they usually have less than 50% bookings weeknights.
I'll stay there next time, but it is no great place. It's just a room.
