An unexpected surprise after reading other reviews. I had a one day layover in Lauderdale before a cruise, and selected this hotel based mainly on the free airport/cruise port transfers offered. I'm not one to stay in full-service hotels, so I'll not compare this to the Hiltons, Hyatts and Marriotts of the world. It's better than most budget motels.
What I loved:
-Transfer from airport and to cruise port worked without complications.
-Pool was small but quite lovely in the early morning. Public spaces including pool area were clean overall.
-Continental breakfast exceeded expectations, complete with waffle machine, cereals, scrambled eggs, breads and fruits.
...and a bonus, if you like to walk - a nice strip mall shopping plaza right next door behind Taco Bell. There's a movie theater about a mile walk from hotel (walk through strip mall, turn left after Home Depot, then 1/2 mile on right). Buy a bottle of wine at the Home Goods store in the plaza and enjoy.
What could be improved:
Some of the bathrooms are a little old (though as of 8/07, they're remodeling). Some of the furniture and walls are a little scuffed and beaten.
Overall, I couldn't be happier, especially after reading some of the scathing accounts of this place. If you're a fan of budget motels, it should exceed your expectations.
