My daughter graduated from Tulane last year and dearly loved the city of New Orleans and one of her favorite weekend haunts at the Columns. We told her she could have her wedding there if she kept the expense the same as it would be in our home town. We went down to visit the Columns and the woman at the front desk acted like we had inconvenienced her and like she disliked us! What a snot when all we needed were a few prices and to see the rooms upstairs. there's not a nice way to say that this woman was overbearing lowlife trash so laying it out like that is what I'll do. We planned to speak to the owner listed on the web about this clerk but still planned to plan a special wedding. We went into the bar and a drunk old man was bellowing and muttering about something that made him angry. He ruined the relaxing atmosphere for us and we complained to the cocktail waitress. Her answer was that no one could do anything to stop him because he drinks there everyday and is their oldest customer. Planning to spend a great deal of money for a wedding we can't allow an drunk man to ruin it for the 2 drinks we had, let alone the most special day of my daughter's life. the next day we asked for the manager and she told us the drunk man was part of the columns and then shrugged. they were rough but the bar women were better than the desk clerk. It was a waste because nothing we requested was done. The customer spending money is not important at that place. It is a disappointment because the city and the columns hotel were very lovely without the unpleasantness of the columns staff. Holy Name of Jesus Church would have been a delight. We are still looking at a few other places bt the columns is out. If you want a nice staff who doesn't treat the customers like we work for them instead of them working for the high prices and the tips we pay them and a guarantee that other patrons will have a little class, skip the columns and spend your money somewhere else. There are many places to spend the kind of money this place charges.
