this hotel was dirty, and the beds were ancient. The bathrooms were decently clean. The front desk staff was not very nice. It looks like a 1960s motel. I'm not sure who wrote the glowing reviews below, but they must be confusing this place with another motel.

My husband is a Civil War buff so for our anniversary we decided to visit Gettysburg. I found the Colton motel on the internet and read the reviews. I was impressed, so I booked it. On the way down we were nervous because it wasn't expensive and we were staying for 4 nights. We expected the worst. When we arrived we were pleased, the room was very clean. The only thing I would change is the variety for the continential breakfast. The staff was great, Hats off to Kevin and Fred. The location is even better. We could walk everywhere. We had the best time. When our boys are older we plan to return. I hope to stay at the Colton. Thanks again!!

I was very pleased that I chose the Colton Motel.
I'll tell you, you can't beat this place for the money you spend.
(What a Deal).
From the time you walk into the office you are greeted with respect and a hardy Welcome from Mr. Manley and his Daughter.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. All of the basics are provided but bring your own blowdryer and or iron. These items are available at the front desk but may be in use.
The Location is GREAT, just park and walk to attractions and shopping as well as dining.
As for the information that Mr. Manley gives to the guest, as far as what to do in the area, tours, and excursions well you can't go wrong with the info that he gives you unless you don't follow his advice, well then it would be your fault if you don't have a good experience. He is very easy to talk to and if you have a concern I am sure he can help you.
The service is second to none. If you want a really cool vacation I would not hesitate to recommend staying at the Colton, I know I will be staying there again very soon.
Good luck Mr. Manley, I hope this review helps. I had an Awesome time you were right on. Thanks........Alex

My family stayed at the Colton Motel last summer on our trip to Gettysburg and found it to be a charming experience. So much so, that we have already booked The Colton again for this upcoming summer. The staff is excellent. They went beyond our expectations to give the same room we had last year.
Andrew & his daughter and the entire staff went out of their way to accommodate us last year at that is why the Colton is the only place we will stay in Gettysburg. Add to this that the management is very knowledgeable of the Gettysburg area. I am a Civil War historian and Andrew pointed out sights for my family to see that I was never aware of.
If you are looking for "silver spoon" or "cookie cutter" accommodation's, then this may not be the place for you. If you are looking for a great bargain with a friendly family type atmosphere that is located in the center of the historic area that was actually part of the battlefield, LOOK NO FURTHER!!! The Colton Motel is second to none
It is not a modern facility, but it has a unique charm, fabulous staff, quiet, and well maintained. When I proposed a return trip to Gettysburg this year, my family insisted we only stay at the Colton Motel.

We stayed here last month on a vacation to Gettysburg. It was very close to everything making touring very easy. The staff was extremely nice and very accommodating. The room was very nice and kept very clean. Someone was there to clean the room every morning. I am a re-enactor with the 10th Illinois, and will be back for the re-enactment in the summer. I will be staying at this hotel from now on. Thanks guys!

I would have to say the most significant factor about the Colton Motel is the central location. No matter what we do or where we go in Gettysburg the Colton is in the center of it all. The rates are among the cheapest in the area and the conveniences and comforts aren't lacking because of it.
The staff is the friendliest that we've ever come across. The manager, Andrew, goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and feel at home. The first words out of his mouth when we arrive are: "Welcome home!" It is always a pleasure seeing his daughter and granddaughter helping to keep the Colton running smoothly. The cleaning staff is on their toes making sure your room is neat and tidy. As well as keeping you well stocked and wanting for anything.

Wonderful place to stay in Gettysburg
We were there for July 18,19 & 29 and returned for Aug 15 & 16 this year. We have been there other years also. We would not stay anywhere else in Gettysburg. The manager makes you feel right at home and is very helpful with anything you need. This hotel is right in the middle of everything; you can park and walk anywhere. The Colton is not the most upscale of hotels, but very clean and well kept with tons of history all around. We are not on a budget and can stay wherever we choose, and we choose the Colton. Thanks, we wish you the best in the election as no one cares more about Gettysburg the you do and we look forward to seeing you again.

The Colten Motel is a great place to be if you are wanting to be at the center of it all. For what this hotel lack's in five star amenities it more than makes up for it with it's staff. They are friendly and very quick to respond to any problems and concerns. The Mangier " Andrew " makes it worth while. He cares about the hotel and it's guests. It is a five star hotel in our book.
