Over the last 15 years we have been faithfully staying at the Colony Beach Motel twice a year. There have bee good times and bad times.
The new owners seem to focus on "new" vs. the old cape atmosphere, which we really enjoyed. As little as 4 years ago there were no phones in the rooms. Unfortunately they are making improvements that are not needed and ignoring issues such as quiet, and many other small but annoying things such as hearing the next door neighbor/next room flush a toilet and cough.
They have improved operations and we still may continue to come, but are disappointed since many improvements we see as not needed are raising the price not related to the real needed fixes.
All in all, we do still recommend the Colony Beach, but fear in the next few years the management will outprice loyal customers such as us, who have been around for 15 years and more for big spenders from the Boston area, and switch to making a lot of money vs. appreciating loyal customers.
We hope the new owners will come back to earth and provide the quintessential Cape Cod setting which is the reason we stayed in the first place and that they forget the silly improvements that only degrade that atmosphere.
Along with that the favorable price, a very fair price before the silly improvements the property was just fine.
