26 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Though I live in the area, I've stayed at the Clift a few times now, most recently in a large suite.

The location is good and both The Redwood Room and Asia de Cuba (both located on the first floor) have managed to remain popular. The dark lobby and hallways perpetuate the hip vibe, but the rooms themselves disappoint. A few now look grungy. The rest just look dated.

Though it's not a bad place to spend a night or two by any means, it is in need of updating and will disappoint if you are looking for anything more than the chic of ten+ years ago.

Very nice!. I've stayed at the Miyako twice and it was wonderful both times. The staff is very gracious. The rooms are huge and really cool with the rice paper shades. It was so quiet and serene and the views are lovely. The soaking tubs are really deep and nice. The property is nicely landscaped. Japantown is fun and I felt very safe even at night alone. I got upgraded during my second stay to a room that had a SAUNA in it..and was bigger than most of my friends apartments. I'm posting this as I'm making a reservation to stay there again.

I am very likely to return to the Clift San Francisco Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

It's beautiful, a five star hotel in great location with exceptional staff and amenities. Compared to other urban hotels, however, I felt it was overpriced.

This hotel made me feel pampered: The sleigh beds and luxurious, natural fabrics felt very indulgent. The bathroom soaps were decadent and smelled wonderful.

I am very likely to return to the Clift San Francisco Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Hip hotel but thin walls. I recently stayed at the Clift hotel, which is in a great location and has a very hip bar full of trendy 20- and 30-somethings. I even bumped into the actor, Martin Short, on the elevator on my way up to the hotel room. The room itself was clean and decently sized, but the walls were SUPER THIN. At 5 am, I could hear my next door neighbors watching TV and could distinguish EVERY WORD that was being spoken. That is very unacceptable, [...] Fortunately, the staff there was very considerate and understanding [...] I'm not sure if I'll stay here again given that the noise factor, but if you're looking for a swanky hotel with a good bar, the Clift is a good place to stop by.

I am not likely to return to the Clift San Francisco Hotel.
I would not recommend it to friends.

This hotel is definitely one of the trendy, chic hotel geared for younger age group. It is located not too far from the Union Square and the theratre districts (merely 10 mins. walk). The lobby and common areas have some interesting decor that's worth checking out.

The room was a bit smaller in size compare to the other hotels in the area. However the bed was comfortable. The fridge and bar in the room was very well stocked with snack and ample supply of alcohol. The bar was very busy but has nice atmostphere. Overall had a fairly good stay at this hotel. The price was reasonable as well.

I am very likely to return to the Clift San Francisco Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
