Clarion Hotel and Suites Hamden

I was in a panic, I had tried two hotels prior to this one in the Hamden

area as my daughter and I were visiting Quinnipiac Univ. This was the perfect place to be! We were greeted with a smile, a discounted rate, a friendly person who couldn't have been any nicer. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone! Clean, spacious, comfortable beds (and pillows!),

quiet, relaxing, and easy accessible to all restaurants in the area.

Believe me, it's a great place for the money!

Poor service, can't handle a reservation, complete lack of customer service.

The room smelled very bad. I stayed here to be near my family. This place should not have three stars.

My two fellow travelers and I several problems with this Clarion hotel:

1) The room had a strong chemical cleaning agent odor, even after we left the door to the balcony open (in January!) for two hours.

2) The aforementioned door to outdoor balcony was locked only with a weak deadbolt, and there was a significant gap between the door and door jam.

3) The TV menu features did not work, and though a helpful staff person came immediately, they couldn't do anything about it, and so the TV and movie features were inaccessible. Not a big deal for us, but it would have been nice.

4) I paid for the stay on Priceline.com, but after my stay the hotel charged me again for the same nights! This dispute is still being worked out.

5) The staff was very kind, but lacked useful knowledge of the area and ability to give directions.

Not for families. Hotel looks great, but I found the amenities lacking, especially if you have young kids. (I needed a fridge for juice, fruit, formula etc. and a microwave to sterilize bottles, which they advertised as having, and which we booked, but is not available on arrival). No shuttle service to shops. Coffee shop not open in evenings. No room service available.
