Clarion Hotel Mackinaw City Hotel - Page 1

I received the best service of my 40 plus years of traveling while staying at the Clarion in Mackinaw City Michigan. We stayed during the Bridge walk weekend and the whole area was packed with people. We had planned to get on a bus to cross the bridge and walk back. We found out the wait in line would have been several hours. I talked to one of the front desk staff about options. While talking a man who was working in the area came up and introduced himself as the manager. He then said he did not mean to impose on us but heard me stating our special need situation with one of our walkers and said he would drive us over at 5am if we would like. I could not believe this!! I had never had service like this even offered at any other hotel and I have stayed at many. Well he did drive us over and we had a great time. The hotel was clean,the staff was friendly and helpful,the location was great and the over all stay was one of the best I have ever had.

The hotel had great service, great rooms and a great price. It was very clean, with great amenities, a very nice location and a great view.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: I had a very easy check in.

We were the for the Pt. Huron to Mackinaw race.

We thought the clarion was going to be a wonderful place to stay. Instead---the sheets were stained,the sheets and towels had holes in them, the carpet and headboards were filthy, we wanted to take a shower (the weather had been in the 90"s) and there was no hot water and wouldn't be fixed for hours. Then when the water was fixed the shower was broken. Very Very dissapointed in the Clairon. The breakfast was just ok nothing special.

I can honestly say this was the cheesiest hotel I stayed at in years. We checked in July 23 for 2 days. Thought I would splurge on the waterfront suite for the family @ 288.00 night plus taxes. Described to us as 2 bedroom suite with 1 king bed and 1 queen bed. What we found was a fairly new building only accessible via stairway on third floor. Non ADA compliant. Extremely tight quarters. I estimate furniture occupied 85% of floor space. No fire sprinklers. One piece plastic tub and shower. Wireless Internet never worked. Overall cheap Motel 6 type construction. Breakfast was reminiscent of my days at summer camp when I was 12. Cheap. We passed the second Day. Basically when I spend 300.00 a night for a room or suite I don’t expect a motel, I expect a Hotel with quality construction.

My husband and I stayed at the clarion for our anniversary this May. It was a nice, clean hotel. The breakfast was GREAT!! Hot waffles, eggs, sausage and gravy, juice, milk, or coffee. The only negetive review I have to give, is that while we were waiting to make a waffel, one of the breakfast staff started making hers while on the clock..making me wait five minutes to have mine.
