48 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We stopped here on our way to Niagara Falls due to the location right on Lake Erie. We wish we hadn't.
The good: The hotel is located right on the shore of Lake Erie. The view from the room was good (exceptions below). The lobby was nice
The bad: We had a water view room, but the windows were so dirty both inside and out, we couldn't really enjoy the view. A balcony would have been nice. One of the windows was cracked. The bathroom shower curtain had mold on it and overall the bathroom was dirty. Even though it was a non-smoking room, there were cigarette burns on the bathroom counter. The ceiling was peeling in the bathroom. There was no fan in the bathroom. The beds were hard and gave me a backache. There was a live band the night we were there until midnight and we had to run the fan constantly to block out the noise. The ice machine on our floor was out of order. No refrigerator or microwave. No free breakfast, because there is a restaurant on the property. The television reception was somewhat poor. There was no free Wi-Fi as far as I could tell. My PDA located 3 weak unlocked connections, but none said Clarion or anything that would indicate it was for hotel guests and no free Wi-Fi was advertised in the room.
We had dinner at Windjammer's, which is the restaurant located on the property. The service was slow, because they only had 3 servers for about 20 tables. We wanted the grouper, but they were out. We settled on chicken, which was somewhat overcooked. They were also out of one of their featured wines. Why would you feature a wine, then not have enough?
Overall, it was a very poor experience. Stay away from here!
