Extremely poor choice for the money

47 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
I checked in at 3 pm, and the front desk personnel were not very friendly. I used the lobby computer for directions instead, and their printer was broken. I had a difficult time getting a desk person (although three were present) to acknowledge my presence. They were resistant to giving me a piece of paper to handwrite directions. They were even more reluctant to give me two pieces of paper.
I asked the desk personnel where to find their fitness room. I was advised that it had been closed, and was no longer available. Later, I found the room, it was open, however, four of the five pieces of equipment were broken.
The room was very poorly lit. A mirror had been removed from over a desk and the holes in the wall just left gaping.
But the worst was the side entry around the building and quite a distance from the front, and it would not work at night. The lobby personnel told me that it purposely did not work at night because they were in a bad neighborhood and did not want locals to come in. This made me very nervous. If the neighborhood is this bad, should a guest have a problem in the parking lot, they also could not get in.
I had reserved the room for three nights. I checked out the next morning and moved to a Comfort Inn a couple exits down the road. Needless to say, they did not ask why we were checking out early.
I am not likely to return to the Clarion Hotel Colorado Springs. I would not recommend it to friends.
