Clarion Hotel Airport Milwaukee Hotel - Page 1

My company selected this hotel for company employees who come to Milwaukee. My very first impression of this hotel was awful. I've never experienced front desk personnel this rude anywhere, even at so-called roach motels. And this behavior goes all the the way to the general manager!

The rooms are OK. In every non-smoking room that I've had at this Clarion, I constantly smelled smoke. It it frustrating and makes for a poor experience. The restaurant is expensive with respect to the quality of food and poor service. I utilized the restaurant ONCE and never attempted it again. This is where I tried to voice my concern to the hotel's GM and was met with the same nasty attitude that can be found at the front desk.

After staying here three more times, I convinced our company to use the Super 8 hotel and Best Western hotel down the street.

From my very first experience, I knew this was going to be a bad stay. I compare it to "shining." What I mean by shining is...over promise and under deliver. The Clarion in Milwaukee reflects exactly my sentiments.

Breakfast...forget it! Pastries, juice and coffee.

Customer service...(except for the restaurant)...forget it! The bar is expensive and no thought is paid attention to large clients.

Flexiblity for needs...forget it! They are not friendly due to low staffing.

Rooms are alright but the cleaning staff can't read and they still leave trash in your room.

Don't mean to be so negative but I am very disappointed. Hotels should take care of the hand that feeds them.

The rooms were big and well furnished. The internet was easy to connect to.

Let me start by saying that I didn't want to stay here, or expect to stay here. We arrived here at 3am thanks to a Midwest Express flight that was 9 hours late, and needed to wait until our connecting flight left the following morning.

Despite the details about my arriving there, and my low expectations, the experience was pretty good. Check-in was very easy (I think they've done this before when plane-loads of passengers arrive at 3am) and the room was clean, dark and quiet. Checkout the next day was effortless and there as coffee and doughnuts in the lobby as we waited for the shuttle.

Would I stay here again by choice? No. Did the hotel exceed my expectations? Yes.

It was the best hotel I have ever stayed at in that price range offering those amenities. Even though it was Christmas, the staff was pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable about the downtown area. The manager was very understanding when my son got a bloody nose and ruined a towel. The location was wonderful, right near the airport but not under the flight path. I do wish they had a hot tub.

This hotel made me feel respected: My requests were treated courteously. My children were treated as people, not annoyances. We were allowed to play in the pool and the staff clearly respected my ability to watch over and control my children.
