Clarion Hotel Neptun is located in Frederiksstaden in the heart of Copenhagen, one of the nicest parts of the city. This historical building is one of the oldest hotels in the city. It was originally built as a bohemian meeting place, but these days it is more practical than artsy and welcomes business guests, tourists, and tour groups. The lobby area itself is small, adjoining a beautiful library and seating area. The hotel is then built in an atrium fashion around two smaller courtyards. Many rooms face an interior covered courtyard. Next door is the restaurant Gendarmen, run by a group of young restaurateurs who have created a dinner menu that weds traditional Danish dishes (roast pork or cod) with nouveau touches, such as a light truffle or blueberry sauce. The Clarion-Neptun is centrally-located by the Fishing District with its festive outdoor restaurants and musicians. It's within walking distance of the pedestrian mall on Stroget and the palace on Copenhagen Square. Best of all was the service in the dining room. Imagine a dining room that is open
24-hours, offering complimentary beverages and snacks whenever you need them. Our large tour group thanked the concierge for such generous hospitality. There was one draw-back: The lobby was small, making it crowded whenever we assembled.
This is a wonderful hotel, friendly staff, good service and good location. I will definately stay here again. Everything was very reachable. Front desk was most helpful. Thank you Copenhagen Clarion Hotel.
