We discovered the Clam Digger Inn (Ramada at that time) 21 years ago on our honeymoon. We have continued throughout the years to spend vacations there. After about an 8-year break, we decided to return this year to the Atlantic Ocean and our first thought was to return to the Clam Digger Inn. Having read so many conflicting reviews on the internet, we were uncertain what to expect.
One word sums up what we discovered; consistency. The Clam Digger (which has been and is still owned by a local family) remains a great place to spend time. Our room was clean, sporting new furniture, carpet, draperies and bedding, and it smelled clean which can be a real challenge for rooms near sand and water. The staff was helpful, friendly and spoke well of working there and of the owners who they said truly care about the satisfaction of their guests and their employees.
On previous trips we ate at the restaurant and discovered they consistently served good food at reasonable prices. Although this trip we did not eat at the Inn, opting to try other local restaurants (a couple to our dismay), the lines of people waiting to be seated and the full tables spoke to us that the restaurant still serves good food and the prices remain reasonable.
This is an older facility that has been well taken care of. Although some of the fixtures are somewhat dated, everything is clean and well maintained.
If you are looking for a comfortable, pleasant, and slower paced place to spend time, you will do well to consider the Clam Digger Inn.
