The Chiang Mai Thai House is in a great location for those wanting to be central enough to walk around the eastern wall of the old city, yet far enough down a residential alley to be removed from the noise of the town. The room was quite clean and had nice northern Thai decorative touches to an otherwise standard room. My room had a small veranda behind a sliding glass door out the back with a bench so I could sit outside, breathe the fresh air, enjoy looking at the plants and flowers, and listen to my own caged bird as well!
As I was there on business, I found the lack of a desk a bit annoying. But the cheap (free if you bring your own cable) Internet connection from the room was quick. Airport transport is easily arranged from the hotel, but the breakfast comes at a higher-than-average price in the mornings. I'd suggest one of the delicious restaurants just around the corner.
It was family friendly and had a nice swimming pool. Tours are commonly on offer from all Chiang Mai hotels and the numerous independent tour operators. The hotel tours were also priced higher than most other tour companies. Overall, however, the friendly and helpful staff made my stay enjoyable. I would stay here again.
